The Arrival

In front of the two bots stood an army of researchers and engineers. (Well, maybe not an army, but definitely an overwhelming amount.) Voices blurred together in a mix of cheer and applause, one voice cutting through the rest.

"Ah, yes. Our miracle of machinery!" The sea of people parted as a well-dressed man walked through the makeshift path. The click of his shoes echoed through the now silent area, and the two watched intently as he got closer. He wasn't necessarily intimidating, but the look in his eye yelled 'power'.

The man's hair was a salt and pepper mess, strands flying everywhere. His grin was lopsided and toothy, and one of his canines was replaced with a golden fang. He wore a well-fitting navy blue suit with an untidy ruffled white button up under it as if he rushed to prepare himself.

The man extended his hand, his skin looking like it lacked sunlight. "I'm Professor Hawthorne, current owner of Universal Dynamics, but please, call me Victor," his tone was calm, but his eagerness was undeniable.

Roz looked down to the professor's hand, grasping it with hers. She looked back up at him, speaking in a cheery tone, "Hello, Victor! I am Rozzum unit 7134."

Professor Hawthorne's grin grew, continuing to shake the white bot's hand. After a moment of pure hand-shaking, Vontra announced, "How about we get Rozzum unit 7134 fixed up, yes?" She didn't wait for an answer, pulling Roz's hand away from the professor's.

"Ah, of course," Hawthorne replied, and started walking towards the main building's entrance.

Vontra followed behind, leading Rozzum by her hand as the white robot took in her surroundings. Everywhere she looked was filled with engineers and researchers, even having people from the press snap photos. Roz shielded her eyes from the flashing lights, walking faster to get away from the chaos.

Glass doors opened automatically, and as soon as they walked inside, the whole atmosphere changed. The building was cool and quiet, the only sound being the footsteps of the white bot and professor.

Victor led the bots into his private office, a secluded area that could be considered its own building. It was filled with lab equipment and vast amounts of different technology, an engineer's heaven. The professor turned his attention to the smaller bot as he spoke, "The data?"

"Oh, yes," Vontra replied, her eye adjusting rapidly. She reached one of her tentacles towards her body's storage container, but paused before she opened it. "Would you like me to process it for you?"

The professor reached his hand out, "No, that won't be necessary."

Rozzum glanced to Vontra, feeling the tentacle robot's grip tighten on her hand. "Are you sure?" Vontra pushed herself to speak in a lighter tone, "It takes a human an average of a week to process robot data, and considering it's Rozzum's data, it would take around ten times as long. At least that's my estimation."

Victor's hand slowly retracted to his side. "I'm not just any human you know," he stated bluntly, then raised an eyebrow, "but how long do you estimate it would take you?"

"A few weeks, a month maximum."

The professor let out a low, long sigh. He pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. "Fine, so be it. You have a month, not a minute longer," he walked towards his desk, muttering, "I've already waited too long for this kind of technology."

Rozzum looked at Vontra, unsure of what to say or feel. "Thank you, professor Hawthorne," the smaller bot said, nodding her head in gratitude. She wrapped one of her tentacles around Roz's arm, leading her out of the office before he changed his mind.

The mossy bot glanced back at the closing office door, "How long do you think it will take to acquire the needed information from my system?"

Vontra kept her attention forward as she led the taller bot to a hidden region of Universal Dynamic's headquarters. "I'm not entirely sure," she spoke in a hushed tone, her friendly act shifting to an anxious one, "but we better acquire it soon."
