Chapter seven

Jordans P.O.V

I arrived at the back door to the trinity cafe gasphing and panting. The door opened revealing a smirking Anne
"About time you showed up Sharnae has been waiting for you to get your lazy ass here." Anne said to me from the inside.
"come on"She chucked a deodrant botle at me and walking off into the cafe.
I sprayed some on and walked into the kitchen area and washing my hands and chucking on a serving apron that I tied around my waist and walking round to the till to see a verry anoyed Sharnae.
"Its about time you showed up she said turning to me and noding at another member of staff.
"Im-"
"I dont need your excuse right now just get out there and start serving customers you can tell me why at the end of your shift."
I noddedand grabed a pad and pen and started waiting on the tables.
"Jord there youare table three has asked for you specifically they wont take anyone else" Cassie said coming up to me with a smile.I gave her a nod and walked over to table three to spot Luke sat there staring out the window.
"Can I help you sir?" I said a lump building in my throat as thoughts from what happened earlier slipped into my head. He looked up at me with a smirk.
"Yes I'll have one of you to take home with me"
I felt a blush creep up onto my cheeks and i became rather speachless.
"Relax as if I'd want to be a fag like you." he snarled and I let out a sigh of relief.
"I'll have a chocolate mickshake with a burger and fries.
I noted it down and walked off to the kitchen pinning down his order to one of the hatches shelves.
I spent the next half an hour waiting on other tables and that may not seem like a lot but everyone in town loves the trinity cafe and if they dont visit they know about it. Its a hub for the whole town.
"Table 3!" Mike shouted from the kitchen and I walked over to the hatch and picked up the tray for the order and I made my way over.
I placed the milkshake down and the plate of food and began to walk off when I herd a tapping on a glass and I turned around to see Luke stood on a chair holding his milkshake in one hand while he was tapping it with a fork that was in his other hand.
"attention everyone" he spoke out as the whole cafe came to a standstill. An his smirk of trouble appeared on his face, and he aimed it at me.
"I would like to inform you of some news"
I gulped and froze, I knew he was going to tell everyone that I was gay. I mean the last time he came here I ended up tripping over and spilling a tray of drink all over him and he swore vengance for his public humiliation. I knew that he ment it. Thats the thing about Luke when he swears to do something he will and he wont care about the consequences. BUt back then I was in the closet and nobody knew. I was in denial at that point to.
But that was not the problem this town is kind of a big time homophobic town. The last person who came out as gay got beaten and ended up being hospitalised and he never returned.
" Someone in our beloved town is a sinner, a sinner of sinners"
A few mutters went about as the curiosity rose in the now seemingly small cafe.
"We have a lover of the opposite sex in our midst"
Another wave of mutters passed through the room and I backed away.
"This person is a he... And his name is..."
By now I was by the kitchen door I quickly ran in as I herd a wave of angry conversations erupt.
I turned around to come face to face with Sharnae.
"you poor boy" she spoke softly towards me.
"I-Im sorry I understand if you dont want me to work here anymore..."
"You think I'm going to fire you?"She staired at me.
"I thought you wouldnt want someone of my...type here"
"you listen to me Jordan. My son Jalen he was the last gay boy in this town, and I sided with all the rest of the town. When he got attacked I realised that this whole town is messed up in a lot of ways. You have my word that I will never be like them ever again. Your welcome to stay only if you want to and if you ever need anything even if its somewhere to stay I'll help you out." she placed her hand on my shoulder and pulled me into a hug accidently squeesing my ribs and my new bruises causing me to hiss. She pulled back and looked at me cautiously.
" I'll drop you home tonight the streets are too dangerous for you to be out, and as for your shift I'll move you to the kitchen doing the dishes and taking out the trash."
I nodded at her solemly.
"I'll close up early today" she said and she walked past me into the cafe. I herd her anouncing that the cafe will be closed in half an hour and for once i didnt feel so alone even though the whole town but one that hated me.
