Percy ran, heart pounding as he bolted down the corridor. Seriously, he thought, was it too much to ask to go just one day without getting chased by some ancient evil? He wasn't sure what he'd done to end up here, but he'd probably be lecturing himself later. If he survived.
The halls twisted and stretched like some kind of magical funhouse nightmare, with each doorway leading into a new and more bizarre room. His legs screamed with every step, but Percy didn't slow down.
Finally, he crashed through a heavy set of doors and skidded to a stop. He threw his weight against the doors, slamming them shut behind him. The room he'd stumbled into was enormous and completely empty... well, almost empty. The windows stretched floor to ceiling, pouring golden light down like he'd stepped into some divine greenhouse. Simple Greek pillars lined the room, all draped in vines and ivy. The floor was one massive sundial tile mosaic that looked like it had been around since the dawn of time itself. One way in, no way out. Perfect.
Then he noticed the people—and, um, animals—scattered around the room. Gods, he realised. Great. As if this day couldn't get any worse. He spotted three he recognised right away: Artemis and Apollo, both staring at him like he'd just interrupted a family dinner, and the third was... well, it was Kronos. Fantastic. Just who he wanted to see.
But they weren't alone. A woman was reclining on a lion. A guy with four arms and an actual red eye on his forehead was meditating in one corner. Some kind of Chinese dragon was curled up like a cat, while a monkey with a staff grinned at him from his spot on the floor. A guy with two ravens on his shoulders, a warrior couple decked out in South American armour, even an elephant-headed guy all turned their eyes on Percy. And every one of them looked... amused.
Percy wiped the sweat from his brow, his stomach sinking. Gods. A room full of gods. This was bad.
Before he could even start planning his escape, the doors behind him flew open with a bang. He spun, Riptide flashing in his hand, and took a deep breath as his pursuer stepped into the room. No, not stepped—floated. Because that was normal.
The kid looked about nine, wearing a spotless white suit with red accents, like he'd been shopping at some supernatural mall. His white hair was messy, and his deep red eyes were practically glowing with... was that laughter?
"You led me on a fun little hunt," the kid said, grinning. His voice was soft, almost playful, like they were playing tag instead of, you know, running for their lives. He pointed one gloved finger at Percy, his gaze suddenly intense. "Perseus, Goddess of Eternity. Perseus the Eternal," he whispered, as if trying out the words.
Percy's head exploded with pain. He staggered, clutching his temples, as his vision split into a million flashing colours, like someone had put a strobe light in his brain. A strange choir started singing somewhere far off, their voices rising until—
The world went black.
A/N: Sup guys. Long time no see.... If anyone's reading this. Funnily enough I dreamt of something similar to this happening to him whilst camping. Decided hey, yknow what? I'll write it down and see how it goes. I'm not sure how active I'm going to be but I'll try my best to be sure to update. Next chapter going up within a week or so.
