Haiku - Darkness

Night settles softly,
The moon hides within the gray,
The world holds its breath.

Shadows grow larger,
Swallowing the last of light,
Silence turns to sound.

No stars shine tonight,
The sky remains deep and black,
Secrets lie at rest.

Mist rises gently,
Draping the land in darkness,
The path stays hidden.

In the distant dark,
A lonely light fades away,
Night swallows all trails.

Thoughts begin to drift,
Wandering without a light,
The soul slowly roams.

Only night remains,
Wrapping earth in gentle black,
Dawn is far away.
