“Mom, you and Mr Wilson are going to get divorced?” The question came out of Albert’s mouth just like that. There was an interrogating tone in his voice that made her even more frustrated; she snapped.

“I am trying to mend our relationship,” Olivia said harshly, and she stepped forward to snatch the paper in Albert’s hands. The man sidestepped, avoiding her as he read the contents to make sure that he wasn’t seeing things.

If Olivia were kicked out of the Wilson family, what would happen to his company? However, the feeling of being deceived like this also wasn’t good. He previously had high hopes, but this woman blew it up like that.

Trying to mend relationships with Adam Wilson? He also knew how stubborn this man could be. It was a slim chance for him to accept Olivia back once he decided on something.

“Tell me honestly, Mom. What is happening?” Albert ran his hands through his hair and then rubbed his temples. The sudden headache made him slightly dizzy.

Olivia looked down. The image of a woman who always wore that condescending expression on her face was gone, replaced by self-doubt and anxiousness. After a moment, she only answered vaguely as she bit her nails. “Adam found out about things I did before.”

She didn’t explain what she had done, but he could guess that it wasn’t something easy to be taken care of, especially when it was related to the Wilson family.

“Mom, are you still there? Albert darling?” Cecil suddenly called out from inside the room. Albert shook his head and then walked back inside, much to Olivia’s horror.

He also didn’t wait for his wife, who was cradling their baby daughter, to speak. His hand directly tossed the papers to Cecil’s lap, making her bewildered. As soon as she read it, her eyes widened in shock.

“Mom, what’s happening?” Olivia just entered the room when she heard his daughter’s question. There was a frown on Cecil’s face, and she seemed anxious as she bit her lips.

“I will take care of it. Don’t worry. Just focus on taking care of baby Shirley.” Olivia said, trying to convince them.
Cecil’s eyes flashed. “Then, about the funds…?”

She trailed off, and Olivia scrunched her face. There was a feeling of irritation that grew in her; they weren’t worried about her; they valued the funds more instead. However, she could only throw a stiff smile. “I already said I will take care of it. You don’t believe me?”

“It’s not like that, Mom. We are just worried about you.” Cecil muttered. Her gaze turned to her baby worriedly.

There was also a pressing matter for her to solve if she were to lose the umbrella called the Wilson family. The feeling of being included in a real rich family was so great that she also didn’t want to be deprived of such privilege. People didn’t dare to look down on her, and some of those who have enmity or unsettled debts of revenge didn’t dare to touch her.

A certain person also threatened to snatch the life she had right now, destroying its peace.

“Adam already promised to help you when I spoke to him last time. You know that he is a man of his words.” Olivia added, and she could visibly see the changes in their previously tense expressions turned to a more relaxed one.

After she said that, Olivia left the room, finding it a bit suffocating. She went out somewhere that Cecil nor Albert didn’t know, and some hours later, she returned late at night, reeking of alcohol.

Meanwhile, Cecil could only watch the figure of her mother that disappeared behind the mahogany door. A complicated look passed over her face.

Olivia had come to live with them for a week now and she stated that it was because she wanted to help her take care of the baby. In fact, she rarely helped her at all, and she had to figure out everything on her own.

Unexpectedly, Adam Wilson was going to divorce her. That must have been the real reason.

However, until a week later, they found out that Adam never gave them the funds at all. Even when Albert contacted a company under the Wilson family, they only gave ambiguous answers.

It was also during this time that the condition at home became worse. Albert was irritable all the time; he couldn’t stand the crying baby. As such, he spent his time outside and no one knew where he went. Cecil often called him, but he rarely picked up the phone.

On the other hand, Olivia’s mental state also wasn’t that good. Adam still didn’t change his mind, even after weeks passed. If anything, there were even traces of the Wilson family’s hands in obstructing their path.

The resources from the entertainment industry that she was supposed to receive after she had enough time to rest, was canceled just like that. Some brands who promised to hire her suddenly changed her position with other people.

Her mother also turned into an alcoholic fast, spending most of her time drinking. She would rarely find her sober every time she came to her to demand an explanation.

Cecil just came back from her mother’s room, feeling dazed. The sky was falling apart, and she was helpless against it. The scheme that they had weaved carefully turned into smoke. They didn’t get to be a part of the Wilson family, and instead, they suffered some misfortune.

“How come things became like this…?” Cecil ran her hands through her unkempt hair, and just as she was about to sit down on her bed, a loud cry reverberated in the room. Shirley was crying again.

“Can you just shut up?” Cecil said in annoyance, but she still proceeded to try to calm her daughter down. However, her cry didn’t subside, and it made Cecil grow impatient.

“Madam, someone is here looking for you.” A servant suddenly knocked on the door. Cecil let out a breath and opened the door. Then she shoved the crying baby Shirley to the flustered servant. She was dying to get away from the voice that might shatter her eardrums.

It was not until she opened the door that she realized she had committed a big mistake by opening it. Or maybe she should have asked the servant about who was looking for her first.

David Newman was standing there, tall and expressionless. Cecil subconsciously took a step back. Just as she was about to close the door in a hurry, he immediately blocked her as if he had expected her next move.

“What do you want?” She glared at him harshly.

He didn’t look bothered at all by Cecil’s hostility. When he came here, he had expected such a reaction. The divorce between Olivia Smith and Adam Wilson hadn’t been publicized yet, but the daughter of the Wilson family had leaked the news to him. Only then did he dare to openly come to demand for his daughter.

“You know what I want, Cecilia Hart. Give me my daughter.”

At the same time, after he said those words, Albert appeared behind him.
