꧁ The game ꧂
Bryce had decided to stay at Derek's that night not prepared to face her mother after all of that. She also didn't go to school. Seeing as she was passing all of her classes by some miracle it wouldn't affect her grades too much. She sat on a chair in a room with Derek as he flipped through pages of a book she didn't know.
Erica and Boyd walk in Bryce looked at them confused at their somber expressions.
"You decided, when?" Derek turned around to face the two.
"Tonight." Erica started not being able to look Derek in the eye.
"Everyone's gonna be at the game. We figured it was the best time." Boyd added.
"It's not like we want to." Erica said softly.
"What do you want?" Derek asked.
"Since I just turned 16 a month ago I wouldn't mind getting my license. I can't do that if I'm dead, you know." Bryce felt a pit in her stomach.
"Well I told you there was a price." Derek defended.
"You didn't say it would be like this." Boyd responded.
"Yeah but I told you how to survive. You do it as a pack. And you're not a pack without an alpha." Derek said, his voice raised.
"We know." Boyd simply stated.
"You wanna look for another pack." That's when Bryce's heart sank.
She had come to love both of them so much and the thought of them leaving made her sick. Erica looked towards Bryce seeing the look on the black haired girl face made her rethink all of this. But she couldn't turn back now.
"How are you ever going to find one?" Derek asked the two.
"We think we already did." A look of confusion and fear spread across both Bryce and Derek's face.
"All of a sudden we heard all this howling." Erica started explaining.
"There must have been a dozen of them." The taller of the two commented.
"Maybe more." The blonde added.
"Yeah it maybe only two. You know what the beau geste effect is? If they modulate their howls with a rapid shift in tone, two wolves can sound like 20." Derek explained angrily.
