"At Helena's Apartment."
Leon and Helena had woken up in bed. They were happy after being intimate last night, not that they regretted anything for the first time in a long time. Leon held her, not wanting to break their embrace. He wanted them to enjoy their moment. She smiled at him, "Hey, you okay?" he nodded, "I didn't hear you toss or turn last night." she smiled and nodded, "Yeah, I think the nightmares are finally gone." he kissed her, "hey that's great news!" Helena smiled, "I think so too. I may get glimpses of it, but all in all, it safe to say they're gone." he kissed her, "Good, hey, listen, I have today off. We could spend the day today. Whatever you want!" she smiles, "what did you have in mind?" Leon smiles, "Well, we could go to the park and have a picnic if you're up for it." she kisses him, "I would love that." he smiles, and they both get up, showered, and get dressed. Leon waited for her, grabbed his keys, and drove to the park.
Leon and Helena arrived at the park. He laid the picnic blanket out. They sat down, ate, and enjoyed their company; they were happy and in love. He was delighted that she was laughing and smiling. It had been a while since he saw this light on her face for a while after everything she's been through, "it's terrific to see you like this." she smiled, "Yeah, haven't felt like this in a long time ever since well you know. . ." he touched her hand, "hey what happened to you that wasn't your fault I hate what Derek did, but I'm glad I was there for you for a moment I thought I lost you!" Helena sighed, "You almost did!" she flashbacked to when Leon had found her at the apartment unconscious, "Helena, oh god no!" Come on!" he turned on the shower, and she began coughing. He hugged them, "It's okay, I got you!" she shrugged it off. He looked at her, "Hey, you okay?!" Helena sighed, "Leon, I just keep thinking if I wasn't pushed so hard that night and that if you didn't find me at my apartment that night, I wouldn't be here!" Leon comforted her, "Hey, but I did. Hey, I saved you!" Helena smiled, "you did more than that. You gave me a reason to live and encouraged me to fight, so thank you!" Leon kissed her, "You did the same for me, and I'm grateful for that!" he helped her up, "Helena, tomorrow will determine what happens whether we win or lose I was going to wait to do this, but now is a good enough time!" he pulled out a ring and got down on one knee Helena gasped.
Leon continued his speech, "Helena, after all the ups and downs we've been through to get to this point in our lives, you are my life, my best friend, and my soulmate. Will you marry me?" Helena gasped in tears, "Yes, Leon, I will marry you." He kissed her and put the ring on her finger. She smiled, "It's beautiful!" he hugged her when she got a phone call, "Hello, Emily, what's up? I see, so tomorrow, okay, we'll be there, alright? Bye." Leon sighed, "What is it?" Helena sighed, "Trials have been set for tomorrow at 10am." Leon sighs, "Well, so much for good news." Helena nodded, "Yeah, I'm going to give a victim impact statement, but after that, Emily says we don't have to stay." Leon nodded, "Good." they gathered the picnic blanket and their stuff and headed home. They went to bed that night. Leon was awake while Helena slept. He sighed, "Tomorrow the day, whatever happens, I just hope the judge is in our corner."
