The dreaded Q.A. season has arrived! The students gathered into the classroom early. No one was talking, they were too drowned in their papers and self-made reviewers. The circles around their eyes were in different shades of black. These 14-year-olds sure work hard for their standing. The five scholars were no exception. They were all still drowsy due to the lack of sleep, having to read until their eyelids could stand no longer.

The door opened. The sharp voice of Mr. Flores greeting everybody a "Good Morning" filled the loud silence engulfing the room. Everyone almost didn't respond to the teacher. It was still 7 a.m., and exams will begin at 8. The hour was given to them to finalize their review. Every exam will span 1 and a half hours, with no breaks in between, except at 11 a.m. for their lunch time. The exams to be given today will follow the schedule. It was Monday, so the subjects to be taken today were the subjects they take every Monday and Tuesday. These were English, followed by Math, History, and Religion. Tomorrow would be for the Wednesday & Thursday subjects: Philosophy, Computer, Filipino, Science, and Home Economics. MAPEH would be taken last on the third day.

"Damn, all the hardest subjects on the first day" Caden thought to himself. But he had reviewed a lot with the other boys for the past weekends. He's got this. He knows it. The boys circled around and discussed. The five scholars were assembled once again. Under the direction of Theo, the boys finalized some key points that they had to remember for the upcoming exam, what they had to emphasize, what they didn't have to dwell on.

The boys huddled, held their hands together, and at the count of three, they all yelled random gibberish while breaking their hands.

"1, 2, 3, AAAAHHHH!"

The boys quickly stole all the eyes in the room for themselves.

It was honestly corny, the way they did it. They can hear the whispers of the classmates hissing in the wind. The boys quickly buried their heads below the armchairs. They were prepared for anything the teachers would throw at them. Let them have it!

Monday's exams had just finished. It's time to go home. The five scholars met just outside the classroom to talk about the battlefield they had just walked out as veterans from.

"That History exam was god-awful. I'm so bad at remembering dates." Oliver complained.

"You could have fooled me. You talk like that, yet you get the multiple-choice questions right." Caden told him.

"Oh, fu*k me. I had the same problem. The English test wasn't so bad, though. Caden's sample questions really helped." Theo complimented.

It was just a random thought, but Caden found this bunch of young boys funny. The way they sprinkle swears like confetti is so amusing to him. If he didn't know these boys and heard their potty-mouths run like that, he would've never guessed that they're top students.

They were in the middle of their little rants when all of a sudden, Claire came from behind and pinched Caden's thigh.

"Ow! What was that for!?" Caden exclaimed.

"Hey Caden! How have you been? I was wondering if I could talk to you for a minute." She said with a smile.

"Alright. Let's go sit somewhere quieter." Caden responded. He then gestured for his friends to go ahead. He won't be coming out the gate with them today.

The two friends found a bench overlooking the school fields. They sat down and faced each other.

"What's up?" Caden opened.
