Alisha had never planned her future. She pictured lazy Sunday mornings spent cuddling in bed, sharing laughter and dreams with family and friends but when she fell for Sujoy's charms, everything changed. Alisha envisioned romantic walks on the beach hand in hand, as the sun sets in a blaze of colours. She daydreamed about cozy nights by the fireplace, sipping hot cocoa, and whispering sweet nothings.
With Alisha by his side, Sujoy felt invincible. She was fully aware of his bad boy tendencies, but her love for him was so deep that she felt she could change his ways. She made him believe in love and all its wonders. She was his rock, his confidant, and his best friend. They shared a deep connection that seemed unbreakable.
As their relationship blossomed, Alisha began to see a future she had never considered before. She started making plans, setting goals, and envisioning a life together. She imagined herself living happily ever after with him. She adored him so much that she was willing to abandon her world to be with him.
In addition to obtaining her CA degree, she now desired a splendid marital union in 'the Miami of India,' Goa, with Sujoy Rathore.
Only a few days remained until graduation examinations. She was not apprehensive about her examinations; she was certain she would pass with flying colors and also succeed on the common proficiency exam. That being said, she had been thinking about getting married and was eagerly awaiting his proposal. Sujoy will likely 'pop the question' soon. She was soothing her thoughts, trying to keep calm so she could finish her examinations.
A plan had been brewing in her head for quite some time. It had started to take shape ever since the gruelling exams had come to an end, leaving her with a newfound sense of freedom and adventure. And so, with her heart brimming with anticipation, she boarded the train for the enchanting shores of Goa. Little did she know that fate had different plans for her. She was to meet Sujoy but an unexpected obstacle met her on the way that shook her world. She could either go back to the life she had abandoned or she could forge ahead, but she went with option three.
Alisha entered her house, her pulse beating and palms sweaty at the prospect of facing her parents. Her siblings were aware that she was dating a notorious boy from Goa, but her parents were not. She had no idea how to break the news to them. Her mind was racing with ideas, but she was unsure if they would work. Her father was always kind and welcoming, while her mother was strict and dictatorial. She has made mistakes in the past and suffered harsh reprimands, but now this is a serious scenario. She swallowed anxiously as she handed the envelope to her father.
Kailash's eyebrows shot up to his hairline when Alie handed him the envelope. He could sense the intense vibes coming from her. He grabbed the envelope from her and asked "What's this, Alie?" Have you put together a portfolio for your internship in writing? There is still time for the results. You've always been confident, so why do you seem tense now?" She felt awful when Kailash gave her a confused look but when Kailash flicked the page, he was stunned. Staring at the ultrasound, he felt as if someone had pulled the rug from under his feet.
Uma had no clue what was happening. "Yo, what's the deal with those papers?" She asked. Kailash remained silent, taken aback by the information. Rather than sit back and let the situation unfold, Alisha blurted out to her parents, "Dad, Mom, I'm pregnant!" With her head down and her voice barely audible,
When Kailash Sabharwal saw the report, his initial impression was that his daughter was playing a trick on him but then he noticed the name on the report. Seeing the ultrasound image gave him a jolt of adrenaline.
As Alisha predicted, her mother totally freaked out. "I told you so many times, Kailash, not to let her go to Goa alone on weekends, but you didn't listen. See what she's done to herself now. she has totally embarrassed and disgraced all of us." Uma screamed, crying.
"No way, Alie is expecting!" This news really hurt him. In an instant, he realized the multitude of challenges that come with raising a child, and his thoughts became all mixed up. He thought, "This is going to totally mess up her future."
Alisha had always been a rabble-rouser, but this was on a whole new level. Kailash completely lost his cool and, in his anger, he slapped his daughter so hard that the sound echoed throughout the room. Although he may have had an authoritarian approach, the father had never physically harmed his children before. As a result, his actions deeply hurt his emotions. Most of the time, he would use punishments to intimidate his daughters and teach them to behave.
Alisha was expecting an angry retort, but she never imagined her father physically lashing out at her. Nah, this is the first time. The harshest punishment she ever got from her mom in the past was serious ear-pulling. Before she even had a chance to recover from the initial hit, her other cheek was met with the forceful impact of another hand. She faltered and took a few steps back due to the force. Alisha's cheeks became numb from the pain. "What have you done, Alisha?" Uma shouted at her daughter.
Alisha could see the sad look on her parents' faces. Uma for the first time, felt she had totally messed up as a mom. She had overlooked all of Alisha's past shenanigans and never reprimanded her for her misdeeds, but maybe that was the wrong approach she took. Uma cried nonstop, berating herself for not being a good mom and failing to teach her daughter important life lessons.
The room was filled with an unsettling silence. All three of them were lost in their own thoughts when Kailash finally spoke up, "If you choose to keep this baby, you'll be completely cut off from our family and we'll never talk to you ever again."
