5: Dad

I can't believe that was Christian. He's so grown up and looks just like his mother. When he called me 'Dad', it was like everything clicked. Why he followed me, why he looked like the son I haven't seen in 12 years, why he tried so hard to leave me, why he called me 'Dad'. And I just couldn't let him get away so easily. So I chased him down. Right in the mall, one of the most public places in the city, and I didn't care who saw.

Then I started thinking that if he's here, his sister might be here, too. And that made me go even faster to get to him. I called his name and hoped he'd turn around to see what his old man wanted but it seemed that it only made him want to get further away from me, and that stung, but I didn't give up.

Then we were in the parking lot. There was only so much time before he would get out of my grasp and that just couldn't happen. I finally caught up to him when he got to his car but he steadily ignored me, trying to unlock his door. Then I just turned him around, getting a good look at him and whispered,

"Christian."

But unfortunately, the moment didn't last long because he dodged me and got into the car. I tapped on his window so he would look at me, but then he started his car, and I started banging on the window. He couldn't go! He couldn't! Then out of nowhere, he honked the horn. The unexpected sound startled me and I jumped back, and as soon as I did, he sped off.

No, no, no!

I ran my hands through my hair and pulled it angrily. The pain in my chest was getting bigger by the second. How could this happen? I run to my car but I remember it's on the side of the building. So I'm stuck watching my son drive off onto the highway, blending with the traffic.

I sat on the couch in my living of my room with a picture of me holding Christian he was a baby. I remembered when Maya was in labor with him and she was cussing me out because she said his head was too big to get through. I thought it was just because the labor was getting to her but when he was born, he really had a big head. I couldn't help but laugh when I got to hold him in my arms. I probably looked crazy crying and laughing at the same time but I just overwhelmed with joy.

"Next on Your News Now, a car crash on Highway 107 has happened around 4:47 this afternoon. There were 5 people involved. They were recognized as Cameron Fisher, Amy Lockhouse, Dahlia Jones, Dylan Harper, and Christian Perez. Out of the 5, Christian was seriously injured. He was reportedly sent to the Ridgewood Hospital to treat his injuries. T--"

I snapped off the television and ran out to my car. That was my son and I don't care if he doesn't want me, I'm coming for him.

Next stop, Ridgewood Hospital.

Swear I'm finding good pics left and right. First, the one with Imani and Jake then the one with Jake and some baby, probably a cousin. And I still got another one I'm waiting to bust out on y'all.

Anyways, damn, the whole gang is showing up. All we're missing is Maya, Chres, August, and Nicole. This workout that I'm doing is draining tf outta me. But at least there are some girls there that make it bearable.
