"So, Sengchanh, want to tell me what you posted on my story?" Sunwoo asked, stepping out of the bathroom with water dripping from his hair, holding up his phone.
"Well, you see..." she began, a guilty smile creeping across her face.
"See you later! Keep me updated on what happens in your classes," Sunwoo said as he dropped her off at her first class. "I'll see you during dance tryouts this afternoon?"The girl smiled at him and stepped into her classroom, her nerves bubbling. Her first class was ceramics and pottery. "It can't be that bad," she reassured herself. She had always had a genuine love for anything art-related. Growing up, she dreamed of attending an art school in New York, but she knew her attachment to those around her was too strong. The thought of living without them felt impossible.
The girl took a seat next to a boy who looked adorable—almost precious. She had deliberately chosen the least intimidating person in the room, hoping to avoid any awkward encounters on her first day. Making long-lasting friends was her goal; she wanted to create a positive environment around herself.
The girl was scrolling through her phone to pass the time before class started. Fully immersed in her screen, she suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder. Looking up, she saw the boy next to her smiling, prompting her to take out her AirPods.
"My name is Renjun, nice to meet you," he said, his welcoming smile brightening the room.
"Adorable," she thought to herself. "Hello, I'm Sengchanh," she replied, hoping to make a good first impression.
Renjun giggled at her nervousness. "You're Jaehyun's cousin, right?"
"Oh, so he does talk about me," she muttered under her breath. "Sadly, how did you know?" she joked back.
"He talks about you a lot! I hope we'll get along this year," Renjun said, but his words were interrupted by the teacher's entrance.
Before she knew it, her first in-person college class had begun. Sitting through the lecture wasn't so bad; she could chat with Renjun, and the atmosphere was pleasant. She had only ever seen environments like this in movies or on Pinterest—taking an art class in such a beautiful space while listening to Frank Ocean felt surreal to the girl. For once, she could genuinely say that class felt calming.
Soon enough, the class ended quickly. As people often say, time flies when you're having fun. Her next class was Anatomy and Physiology. Sengchanh had once dreamed of becoming a nurse, but as she delved deeper into the subject, she realized it wasn't for her—especially after her experiences with blood. Even fake blood in movies made her squeamish, so there for she hadn't been looking foward to attending the class.
The girl quickly walked, anxious about being late for her next class due to the distance between the two buildings. She hurriedly found the classroom; most seats were taken except for one in the back, next to a boy who seemed to be asleep. As she made her way to her seat, the boy shuffled around.
