Part 21

The sun rose gently, casting a warm glow over the bedroom as Naina stirred awake. She blinked against the light, stretching slightly before turning to see Arjun still fast asleep beside her. A smile crept onto her face at the sight of him, his tousled hair and peaceful expression making her heart flutter.

Naina quietly slipped out of bed, careful not to disturb him. As she made her way to the kitchen, the familiar wave of morning nausea hit her, but she brushed it aside, determined to start the day positively. It had been five months since she learned about her pregnancy, and while some days were challenging, every kick and flutter from their little girl filled her with joy.

In the kitchen, Naina began preparing breakfast, her mind racing with thoughts of the day ahead. She loved these moments of domestic bliss, and she was grateful for the support Arjun had shown throughout her pregnancy. Just as she was pouring a glass of orange juice, she heard footsteps behind her.

“Good morning, beautiful!” Arjun’s voice rumbled, filled with warmth as he wrapped his arms around her from behind. “What are you making?”

“Just some toast and eggs. I hope that’s okay,” Naina replied, leaning back into his embrace.

“Anything you make is perfect,” he said, planting a soft kiss on her cheek. “Let me help.”

Arjun moved to the counter, taking charge of cracking the eggs and whisking them in a bowl. Naina watched him with admiration; he had been so attentive, always asking how she felt and what she needed.

“Are you feeling alright this morning?” he asked, glancing over his shoulder. “I can make something else if you want.”

“I’m okay, just a bit of nausea, but it’s manageable,” Naina reassured him. “I’m actually craving some fruit. Maybe we can have a fruit salad too?”

“Consider it done!” Arjun grinned, already reaching for the bowl of fresh fruits.

As they enjoyed breakfast together, Naina couldn’t help but feel grateful for the way Arjun had embraced this journey. He had read books on pregnancy, attended doctor’s appointments, and made sure she was comfortable at all times. Today was no different; he kept the conversation light, cracking jokes and sharing stories that made her laugh, forgetting for a moment about her morning sickness.

After breakfast, Arjun insisted on taking care of the dishes. “You sit down and relax. You’re growing our little princess, and you need your energy,” he said with a wink.

Naina chuckled, watching him scrub the dishes. “You really are the best, you know that?”

“Just trying to earn some brownie points for when she’s born,” he teased, glancing back at her with a playful smirk. “I want her to think I’m the coolest dad ever.”

With the kitchen tidy, Arjun turned his attention to their day’s plans. “How about we take a walk in the park later? The weather is perfect for it,” he suggested.

“I’d love that! Fresh air sounds great,” Naina replied, her heart warming at the thought of spending the day together outdoors.

As they finished up, Arjun helped Naina get ready, selecting a comfortable outfit for her. “This one looks great,” he said, holding up a flowy dress that accentuated her growing bump. “You’ll be the most beautiful mom at the park.”

Naina blushed at his compliment, her heart swelling with love. “You always know how to make me feel special.”

After getting dressed, they headed out for their walk, hand in hand, enjoying the sunshine and the sound of laughter from families around them. Arjun kept a protective arm around Naina, ensuring she didn’t stumble on uneven pavement.

“Look at that little one,” he said, nodding toward a toddler playing with a ball. “That’s going to be us soon.”

Naina laughed. “Can you imagine? Our little girl chasing after her ball, probably with a giant smile on her face.”

Arjun’s expression softened as he looked at her. “And she’ll have the best parents ever, right?”

“Absolutely,” Naina said, leaning her head against his shoulder. “As long as we’re together, I know we’ll be just fine.”

They strolled through the park, stopping occasionally to watch other children play or admire the blooming flowers. It was a perfect day, filled with laughter, love, and dreams for their future.

Later, they returned home, and Arjun prepared a light lunch, ensuring Naina had plenty of nutritious options. “You need to eat well for both of you,” he said as he set the table.

“Thank you, Arjun. I appreciate everything you do for us,” Naina said sincerely, her heart swelling with gratitude.

After lunch, they cuddled up on the couch, watching a movie together, Arjun’s arm wrapped around Naina’s shoulders as she rested her head on his chest. He absentmindedly rubbed her belly, a habit he had developed over the last few months, feeling the gentle movements of their baby.

“Do you think she’ll be more like you or me?” he pondered aloud.

“Definitely more like you. She’ll be charming and witty, just like her dad,” Naina replied, giggling.

“And stubborn like her mom!” Arjun shot back playfully, making Naina laugh even harder.

As the day turned into evening, they prepared dinner together, Naina occasionally stepping aside when the smells became overwhelming. But Arjun was always there, ready with a glass of water or a sweet kiss on her forehead.

After dinner, they settled on the balcony with mugs of hot cocoa, watching the sunset paint the sky in shades of pink and orange. Naina sighed contentedly, her heart full as she leaned against Arjun.

“This is perfect,” she said softly, taking in the peaceful moment.

“Just wait until our little one is here,” Arjun replied, a hint of wonder in his voice. “Then every day will feel like magic.”

Naina smiled, feeling a sense of completeness wash over her. With Arjun by her side, she knew they were ready to face whatever challenges came their way, united in love and anticipation for the beautiful family they were building together.
