Can you give me a hi?
Oh and please leave a vote (star)------------------------------------------------------------
I, Nova Raines, walk into the sleek, modern office building, my heart pounding with nerves and excitement.
Today is my first day as the personal assistant to Damien Blackwood, the notorious CEO of Blackwood Industries.
I've heard the rumors - he's brilliant, ruthless, and drop-dead gorgeous.
But I'm not intimidated. I'm here to prove myself, to show that I have what it takes to succeed in this cutthroat world. As I step into the elevator, I smooth down my pencil skirt and adjust my blazer. I want to look polished, professional, unflappable. When the doors open on the top floor, I take a deep breath and stride out, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
I stride down the hallway, my heels clicking confidently on the polished marble floors. I'm so focused on finding Damien's office that I almost don't notice the woman who steps out of a side room, nearly colliding with me.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" she exclaims, her eyes wide. "I'm always doing this. My name's Nina, by the way. Nina Hartwell, head of PR."
"No worries," I say, recovering from the near-miss. "I'm Nova Raines, the new personal assistant to Mr. Blackwood."
Nina's eyes light up. "Oh, you're the new hire! I've heard so much about you. Welcome to Blackwood Industries!" She extends a hand, and I shake it firmly.
"Thanks," I say, feeling a little flustered by her enthusiasm. "I'm still trying to find my way around this place."
"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it," Nina assures me. "Just watch out for the copy machine. It bites."
I blink, confused. "It bites?"
Nina nods solemnly. "Yep. Took a chunk out of my best pencil skirt last week. I think it's got a grudge against women."
I stare at her for a moment, unsure if she's joking. But then she cracks a smile, and I realize she's just messing with me.
"I'll keep that in mind," I say dryly. "Any other workplace hazards I should be aware of?"
"Well, there's the cafeteria sushi," Nina says, lowering her voice conspiratorially. "I'm pretty sure it's not actually sushi. More like a science experiment gone wrong."
"Ah, thanks for the heads up," I say, making a mental note to steer clear of the cafeteria. "I appreciate the warning."
Nina waves off my thanks. "Hey, what are friends for? And speaking of friends..." She leans in closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. "I've heard rumors about Mr. Blackwood. Word is, he's got a bit of a temper. And he's not exactly known for his patience with his assistants."
I feel a flicker of unease at her words, but I push it down. I'm not about to let a little gossip shake my resolve.
"I appreciate the concern," I say firmly. "But I'm not worried. I know I can handle anything Mr. Blackwood throws my way."
Nina raises an eyebrow, looking impressed. "Damn, girl. You've got some serious moxie. I like that." She grins and punches me lightly on the arm. "Alright, Nova Raines. Welcome to the team. If you ever need backup, you just let me know."
With that, she saunters off down the hall, leaving me feeling a mix of relief and apprehension. On one hand, it's reassuring to know I've got a potential ally in this cutthroat environment. But on the other hand, the warnings about Damien's temper are concerning.
I take a deep breath, squaring my shoulders. No matter what challenges lie ahead, I'm determined to prove myself. I'm Nova Raines, and I'm here to make my mark.
With a final nod to myself, I continue down the hallway, my mind already racing with plans and possibilities. Bring it on, Blackwood Industries. I'm ready for you.
