Gabrielle followed the man as he got into his vehicle and drove away. Not having her own vehicle was not an issue. Vampires traveled much faster on foot than any car ever could.
The man pulled into the parking garage of a nearby hospital. The garage was dark and secluded. Now would be the opportune time to capture the man and have her way with him, but she refrained. Instead she watched. He was much different from prey she stalked before.
She ensured that she kept her distance from the man as he walked into the building and approached the elevator. His scent tantalized her as it cocooned around her body like a soft blanket. For a moment, she reconsidered her decision to watch the man, but she missed her opportunity as the elevator doors shut.
A curse breathed out of her lips as she watched the elevator stop on several floors before returning to the bottom level. She would have to use the stairs and follow the man's scent.
Gabrielle opened the door leading to the steps and strode up them with nothing but his scent on her mind. With each level his essence grew more prominent, and her body craved it. Visions of her feast filled her mind when she turned the knob of the floor the man was one.
She would indulge and endure in this teasing and denying herself of her next meal. The man's heart would be slowly ripped from his chest by her fingers alone. Her tongue would caress the organ until the entirety of the blood on the exterior was dripping down her expectant throat. Fangs would dismantle his heart piece by piece and she contemplated whether she would consume it in one bite.
The anticipation aroused her thoroughly, causing her body to quiver. Gabrielle would leave his body for other members of her coven to feed on just as she always did. She only ate the heart, nothing more, nothing less. Whenever she feasted, her coven feasted.
They would certainly dine tonight.
Following the aroma of the man, she found him sitting in a room holding onto a woman's hand as she lie in a bed. Feeling puzzled by the scene, Gabrielle quietly stepped into the room and observed in the dark shadows cast by the large door. She knew the humans wouldn't notice her unless she wanted them too and even if they did she could effortlessly elude them.
The woman lying the bed was young like the man and wore a ring on her finger as well. The drinks the man had ordered were sitting on a side table. She tried to speak, but vocalizations proved impossible due to the severe apnea she suffered from. The smell of her death nearly cloaked the sweetness of the man's blood, but Gabrielle's mind was still focused on the hunt despite this scene.
Death called to her as it was an easy meal. The woman was cancerous and undeniably at her life's end. She could kill them both and would not need to eat for quite a long time. As Gabrielle emerged from the shadows to do just so, a nurse stepped in, snapping the man's attention directly to the doorway.
His grief stricken eyes landed on the nurse before glancing off to the side where vampire stood. An ocean of emotions ran through him - despair, frustration, confusion, disbelief...
Gabrielle's eyes were devoid of any emotion except for raw, unquenched, savage desire.
