The bloodlust was overwhelming as little Isabella's blood spilled on the floor. The vampires that held Antonio down struggled to resist. Even Antonio himself wished to devour his own child.
The hole in his chest was both literal and figurative as his child wailed on the ground at his feet. Blood oozed from the wound that Gabrielle had given her. It made the fire in his throat lash out and wick away at his restraint.
"Let me go!" He said.
The arms that held him down released him. He dropped to the floor and scooped the infant into his arm. Her blood dripped onto his hands as he examined her well being. Isabella was in undeniable pain, but she was alive.
"My Isabella," he said, bringing her small body to his.
His self-control was astonishing as he resisted the urge to devour his own daughter. He wiped the blood from her small body and got to his feet.
Antonio existed the large house that the coven resided in and felt a deep hatred toward all of the vampires. His legs wobbled beneath him once he was outside. Although vampires did not need a heart to live, he had a gaping hole in his chest. It was not long before he collapsed to the ground outside with little Isabella in his arm.
Gabriella, who had been observing from a window in one of the upper levels gave a small frown in curiosity.
"Should we see if he is alive?" Catalina asked.
Gabrielle shook her head.
"If he is dead then neither his life nor his daughter's life are worth anything of substance. The wolves will take care of it if that is the case."
Catalina nodded.
Gabrielle held out Antonio's heart so that she could get a better look at it.
"It appears that you still have a perfect record," Catalina said.
Gabrielle smiled wickedly.
"There is no one that escapes me. Neither human nor vampire. Natural nor Supernatural. They are mine - they are all mine," she replied as her fingers caressed the small organ.
"The Queen of Hearts," Catalina said.
Gabrielle's light blue eyes flickered to Catalina's dark brown ones.
"The Queen of Hearts," she repeated, basking in her new appellation.
