It did not take long for Antonio to realize where Gabrielle was heading. She was leading him to the hospital where his wife lay dying. He reached forward to grab Gabrielle, but she anticipated his move. In one swift movement the new vampire was on his back with a gust of air leaving his lungs.

"If your filthy hands ever touch me again, I will rip them from your body," she said as he got to his feet.

"Leave my wife be. She does not deserve to be dragged into this. Neither her nor my daughter."

"It is interesting that you believe you can give me orders. Try something like that again and I will ensure that you daughter dies a painful death," she responded.

Antonio promptly shut his mouth and followed the woman. He needed to save his daughter. That was all that he wanted.

Gabrielle led him to his wife's room where she was sleeping peacefully. Antonio did not like the feeling he was getting in his gut, but he pushed it back. As Gabrielle, gently stroked Maria's face he pondered if the woman really was as evil as he thought her to be.

Almost immediately as the thought formulated in his brain, Gabrielle's slender fingers tore through Maria's chest and her pumping her pulsated in her palm. With a feeling of glee she ripped the organ from its foundation and bit into it delicately.

"This is what I had intended for you," she said as blood dribbled down her cheeks. "But now you are too dangerous for me to consume, so your wife will have to suffice."

Her flippant tone disgusted Antonio. He lurched forward, but Gabrielle put a finger up.

"You still do not know you daughter's whereabouts. I would reconsider you actions if I were you," she said.

"I should rip your head from your shoulders," he spat.

"Threats are not taken lightly. Consider this your only warning," Gabrielle replied.

She took another bite into Maria's heart and felt a deep satisfaction. Antonio stared at her with pure repulsion and Gabrielle idly wondered if it would be possible to still consume his heart since it was her blood that caused his change.

Her blue eyes returned to crimson as the blood from the heart began to pulsate throughout her body.

"Let us go. We do not need for humans to encounter us. I would suggest quench your thirst before I show you where your daughter is located," she said.

"I will not take part in such filth," Antonio said.

Gabrielle tilted her head at him in confusion.

"We are vampires - it is in our nature. That is not filth. It is nothing to be disgusted by," she said.

"It is everything to be disgusted by," he quipped.

Gabrielle shrugged at his tone as she struggled to understand his feelings about the topic. She was content with who and what she was. Vampires were predators and humans were their prey. There was nothing evil about it. Nor was there any reason for disgust or dismay. They were no different from the humans and their mass cultivation of livestock as a food source. It was only a problem when they were not at the top of the food chain.
