"Just a pack of jelly slugs... oh, and a licorice wand, please," Annie grumbled the last bit as she handed the old woman pushing the snack trolly down the aisle a galleon. She didn't know how Draco liked the wands. She thought licorice was vile.

As she waited, she peered into the open compartment next to them, catching the eye of a certain boy, whose scar was hidden behind his mop of hair. She wondered why he'd let it grow out so much since last year, it looked better shorter. "There you go, darling. Anything from the trolley dears?" Annie abandoned the thought and turned around, pushing through a group of giggling Ravenclaws.

The blond girl entered her compartment and slid the door shut, tossing the licorice wand to her twin, who was babbling about the events from the summer's World Cup. "I mean, seeing the Mark in person was surreal, wasn't it Annie?"

She laughed. "You were trembling in fear from what I remember," She stated as she shoved Crabbe and Goyle's pile of sweets aside and took a seat next to Pansy.

"And you were high off your arse from what I remember," Draco bit back.

"Okay but let's be real for a second," Pansy plucked a jelly slug from my pack and popped it into her mouth as she laid her legs over mine. "I can guarantee at least one of our parents or our friends' parents took part in that."

"Let's maybe keep that on the down low, Pans," Blaise glanced out the compartment's window warily. Annie watched a snowy white owl fly past the other window and into the distance, bearing a letter in its beak.

"I'm just glad I didn't waste my time going to that rubbish. Quidditch is such a bore." Pansy sighed.

This sparked a huge argument between the girl and her four other friends, their voices overlapping and filling the compartment, followed by laughter. Despite their cruelty, the Slytherins were always the closest of friends you'd see at Hogwarts.

As the group, and many others, exited the carriages that had taken them from the train station to the school, a gasp of shock followed by many pointing fingers averted the Slytherins' attention to the sky. Through the haze, a small Victorian-style carriage drawn by pegasus began descending gradually from the sky and toward the grounds of Hogwarts. Excited chattering filled the halls as every student jumped to get a good look as the carriage began landing, almost hitting the giant groundskeeper, Hagrid, in the process.

"Well, there's something you don't see every day!" A tall and lanky ginger beside her exclaimed to his twin, making Annie realize she'd squished right between the Weasley twins and their younger brother's best friend. The Malfoy twin quickly thrust herself out of the crowd before the brunette could notice. Unfortunately for her, he already had.

She spotted her platinum blonde brother in the sea of students and clung onto his arm tightly as they all headed into the Great Hall. In response to his weirded-out look, she told him, "I lost you guys and was squashed between the Weasleys." He scoffed and led them through the aisles of tables until they found their spot at the Slytherin table. They did their best to not fall asleep during the Sorting Ceremony and snickered at the first years' who had the more unfortunate names, like Fiona Fatlip and Miley Toad.

"Well, now that we're all settled in and sorted, I'd like to make an announcement," Dumbledore began ominously, as he always does.

"Yawnfest incoming," Annie whispered to her brother, who held in a laugh as he kept his gaze on the elder at the front of the hall.
