Layla had always had a crush on Percy. From the moment they had started to write to each other they both knew they had a connection. No matter how much she denied it to everyone. However, with Percy he would always say yes. The only thing on his mind was that Layla was his. Even if they were just friends she would always be his, when they were angry at each other (which was rare) they always ended up in each other's arms. Layla was Percy's safe place and Percy was Layla's safe place. They both remembered the first time they met for the first time so vividly.

Flashback:

Percy, Thalia, Annabeth and Grover were walking into the dance/gym hall. Percy was still confused on why Thalia was taught how to use the mist and he wasn't. He was a child of the big 3 too. He wasn't jealous but he hated how inferior he felt now that Thalia was here. He wasn't the child of the prophecy now he was a child of Posiedon that should've never been born.

His best goat friend had found not one, not two but three half-bloods. He had told them that their names were Bianca, Nico di Angelo and Layla Santiago. The name sounded vaguely familiar but he didn't dwell on it too much. They were just standing there when Thalia had taken the lead again dancing with Grover and asking to play a band called Green Day.

Percy: So...build any good buildings lately?

Annabeth: Oh my gods, Percy. At my new school, I get to take 3-D design as an elective, and there's this cool computing program...

She went on to explain she'd designed this huge monument that she wanted to build at Ground Zero in Manhattan. She talked about structural supports  and facades and stuff and Percy tried to listen but he saw this girl walk in she was wearing a beautiful sundress and had her hair out. He realised that the girl was one of the half-bloods, he tried to remember her name then he finally remembered. Layla was her name. And, it was the prettiest name ever to him. She was standing next to two people, this little boy and a girl who looked around their age maybe a few years younger. Percy was absolutely mesmerised by this girl. She looked like a typical Aphrodite girl but she was way prettier than that to him. She was the most beautiful girl in the world to him.

Percy zoned back in and started listening to Annabeth again. He was a bit disappointed that she liked her school so much. It was the first time she had gone to school in New York. He'd hope he was going to see his best friend more. She was going to a boarding school in Brooklyn, and she and Thalia were both attending, close enough to Camp Half-Blood that Chiron could help them if they got into any trouble. Because it was an all girls school Percy was attending MS-54 in Manhattan so he barely saw them.

Percy: Yeah, uh, cool. So you're staying for the rest of the year, huh?

Her face got dark.

Annabeth: Well, maybe if I don't-

Thalia: Hey

She was slow dancing with Grover, who was tripping all over himself, kicking Thalia in the shins, and looking like he wanted to die. At least he had fake feet. Unlike Percy, he had an excuse for being so clumsy.

Thalia: Dance, you guys! You look stupid just standing there.

Percy looked at Annabeth nervously then at that beautiful girl that was standing with a new group of girls now.

Annabeth: Well,

Percy: Um, who should I ask?

She punched Percy in the gut.

Annabeth: Me, Seaweed Brain.

Percy: Oh. Oh,right.

Percy wasn't going to lie as much as he liked Annabeth he hoped he was dancing with Layla. He didn't know how to put it into words (I'm listening to Family Line by Conan Gray and I might cry) he just felt connected to her.  So they went onto the dance floor. Percy looked at how  Grover and Thalia were doing things. He put one hand on Annabeth's hip, and she clasped his other hand like she was going to judo-flip him.
