Love Comes In Different Forms, Including Cats ?

Chapter 1 : The News.

Demetrius sat in his room, contemplating a lot of things. It seemed like it was just yesterday that his girlfriend broke up with him. But no. It was 2 months ago. He knew she meant well, that she just wanted to focus on her education, but it still stung him like a thousand bees. Cassidy was the first girl to ever be that kind to him. Others would just say he was ugly, because he was chubby. But not Cassidy. She treated him like a regular person, and saw him as a regular person too. Demetrius stared at the ceiling, half hoping that maybe she would call him. But no. He already blocked her, and he obviously regretted it.
"Why am I so stupid...?" Demetrius muttered to himself, running a hand through his black locks of ubcombable curly hair. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a loud scream from downstairs. Demetrius, in a panic, knowing it was his mom, dashed down the stairs, his panicked father running behind him as well.
"MOM ?! Why the heck are you screaming ?!" Demetrius yelled, panic and a little annoyance written on his face. His father came out from behind him, the same worried look on his face. Demetrius' mother, Sasha, a kind hearted woman, had her hand over her mouth, staring at the TV with wide panicked eyes. Demetrius, and his father, both confused and still concerned, walked next to her, only to realize what she was staring at.

"Headline News, a school shooting has taken place in SACC High School on Wilson Street. 10 injured, 9 dead. The suspect of the shooting was another boy from a different school, claiming one of the students in the school stole from him. The 10 who were injured were the school guard,  5 girls and 1 boy from the 10th grade, 1 girl from the 9th grade and 2  other girls from the 8th grade. The 9 who were dead were unfortunately the main targets, which include 3 of the female teachers, 5 boys and 1 girl, who were all from the 10th grade class as well."

Their eyes widened in shock and horror as the news reporter spoke. 10 injured ? 9 dead ? How could anyone let that happen ? But what concerned Demetrius the most, was that Cassidy was part of that school...in the 10th grade. His panic level rose even higher at the thought of it. But what they heard next will forever be imprinted in their minds, echoing like a nightmare too traumatic to forget.

"The 1 girl from the 10th grade class was a hero. Her name was Cassidy Williams, and from the camera footage in VII2, the 10th grade class, Cassidy tried to snatch the gun from the shooter and told everyone else to run. While others ran, the same 5 boys who unfortunately died stayed behind, waiting for Cassidy to run away with them. Sadly Cassidy was hit with two bullets to both knees and to her stomach. The 5 boys, unnamed, were also shot mostly in the upper body. Cassidy saved her classmates lives that very day, even though 6 of them got injured. It was said that Cassidy died of blood loss, dying a painful slow death"

Demetrius' ears began ringing, his mother's sobs muffling in the background, replaced with the ringing noise in his ears. His head began to spin, the shocked look on his face twisted into one of pure horror. The very last thing he remembered, was feeling dizzy, and he blacked out.
