Time flew by fast since that day. All Demetrius could hear was his own ears ringing, his heartbeat felt like it stopped. The only thing that managed to move on him were the endless tears rolling down his chubby cheeks. He couldn't even hear his parents crying and sobbing next to him. Cassidy's parents stood by the grave, giving a speech about Cassidy, and the person she once was. Demetrius snapped out of it, and focused on every word Cassidy's mother said.

"Oh, she was a bright young girl. So beautiful and kind to those around her, even though not many were kind to her. She was intelligent, peculiar, curious and the most warmest person you would ever meet. The minute she came into our lives, we finally felt complete. She was the sun to our darkness, the star to our moon. And she was so very talented. She designed the most beautiful dresses, though her designs were unfortunately put to a halt, if it weren't for her untimely death, her designs would be famous. She dreamt of being a photographer, a designer, and a mother. She adored children, and wherever we went, children would stop by and wave to her. Her singing was like that of God's angel sent from heaven itself, her dance was graceful and smooth, her voice soft like summer rain, her will to fix any and every broken thing she ever saw was high, she would fix a watch, a clock, a toy, but not her own soft sensitive heart made of gold. She was truly, God's gift to earth"

Cassidy's mother bawled uncontrollably, and Demetrius couldn't count the times he felt like screaming and shouting and just letting it all out. But unfortunately, thus we live in a judgemental world, for not even this boy could let out his true feelings, not even at his own ex girlfriend's funeral

A week later...

Demetrius sat next to his parents, his eyes glued to a picture of Cassidy on his phone. God her mother was right. A gift from heaven itself. Cassidy had soft dark brown locks, though she cut them short, the warmest hazel eyes and the cheekiest smile he ever saw. The atmosphere at the memorial, like the funeral, was tense, sad, melancholy, and too depressing. Though, deep in his heart, Demetrius felt a sense of pride and love, seeing his ex girlfriend's dress designs now as real dresses, being displayed in a dress gallery. It was like an art gallery, but the only art there was were the dresses Cassidy designed, which were now sewed to perfection. Every detail, every colour on those dresses, Demetrius knew it was her work. He would take one home if he could, which unfortunately, to his dismay, wasn't allowed. The videos shown on screen of Cassidy made his heart leap with immense love, with a hint of melancholy, knowing he would never be able to hear that sweet sugary voice again, or see that beautiful heavenly face again. It tore him apart from the inside when the sketch of her corpse replayed in his mind...the blood on her knees and stomach, her painful screams and cries, it made him want to kill himself. The last thing he heard from her was from months before, when they broke up.

"I still love you...My Teddy Bear"

Those words rang in his ears over and over again, the nickname she gave him ringing just as much. He couldn't help but cry some more, and he thought about Cassidy's family. How were they coping with this ? They seemed better than last week, though the pure look of depression remained on their faces. After the memorial was over, Cassidy's parents made the choice to give Demetrius her phone, much to his shock. Her phone, like he's seen before, was purple, the background, the phone case, everything. There was some bits of dried blood on the phone case, which made Demetrius sick to his stomach. But he could care less about that. He was going to clean the phone case once he got home.

The drive home was unbearably quiet. Demetrius' father, Delano, would usually play some music, his mother, Sasha, would just talk on and on about her day at work. This time, the only sounds heard were Sasha's quiet sobs, and the AC vent humming. Demetrius clutched Cassidy's phone in his hand, gently but firmly, as if he was afraid to let it go. The rain poured heavily outside, and it felt like hours or even days went by before they finally reached home.
