[Name] POV

It's been over a decade since Ai died. Over the years, I've tried to stop things from happening, but the scene would repeat, and I would be frozen, unable to do anything. Sometimes, after these scenes, I would pass out, and #32 would be waiting there to lecture me about trying to change things. When I eventually woke up, my heart condition worsened, but not enough for surgery. It will never be enough for surgery.

That background character, Mashita Yume, would always be around. He's become my friend, someone I can trust, someone who isn't bound by the story. He would always show up at the hospital with candy and a balloon for me every time I passed out, no matter how old we got.

Tonight's the night Aqua starts his plan. Yume's walking me back home as usual. "Ruby's auditioning for an idol group, right?" Yume asked, his foot kicking a rock along. I glanced at him and nodded. "Yes, but she won't get it," I said, taking off my gloves to inspect them.

"Don't say that. She's an amazing dancer, has good looks and her singing isn't all there, but I'm confident she'll get it!" He protested, voice full of optimism. This guy has a lot of hope in Ruby. Ever since we were kids, he would instantly become her number-one fan when he saw Ruby dancing or singing.

Even when she was rejected the first time because she didn't meet the requirements, he cheered her up and said he knew she'd make it next time.

"Still, her odds were slim to begin with. Besides, Aqua doesn't want her to be an Idol. You know how he is." I reminded him. Yume's shoulders sagged when the implications set in. "What if he changes his mind?" Yume asks hopefully.

"Highly unlikely. Aqua has a plan in mind, and he will do anything to accomplish it. Of course, I can't take that away from him, even if it hurts to see Ruby's dream crushed when I know the truth. She will be an idol, eventually," I looked down at my hands again, 'It's spreading,' I thought to myself.

Yume noticed, too, "Looks like it's getting worse," he commented softly. "Do you want to take a break? There's a convenience store nearby we could rest there or call your mom to pick us u-" I waved off his concern, "I'll be fine." I assured him with a sweet smile.

Yume sighed in defeat.

I've attempted to leave a few times over the years; sometimes, it's on accident or purpose, but I simply cannot die.

Whenever I believed I was dead, I'd wake up either in the hospital or the place I died in, each time, my condition would flare up, and I would be bedridden, too. It's not all bad, though, Ruby and sometimes Yume would come to hang out with me. Aqua visiting would be rare since he spends most of his time with the Taishi.

"See you tomorrow," Yume waved as he left me at my door. "Bye," I waved back, then walked inside.

"I'm home!" I called out to whoever was home already, "Welcome back, [Name]," Miyako greeted. "Is Ruby home yet?" I asked while I took off my jacket. "She came home a while ago...she didn't get picked," Miyako informed me.

I nodded, went to her bedroom, and knocked on the door.

"I'm busy," Ruby shouted, her voice muffled by the door. "Busy crying?" I asked.

"I'm fine, it's nothing." She replied. "If it's nothing, then why are you crying? Just let me in Onee-san." After a few seconds of silence, the door's lock clicked, and Ruby opened it up. I walked into her room and sat beside her on the bed. While holding my arms out,  "Hug?" I asked.

Without a word, Ruby hugged me back and started to sob into my shoulder. "I-I d-don't Unders-stand! I thought I would get it!" She sobbed. I gently rubbed her back for comfort, "Maybe I'm not meant to be an idol like Mama after all..." She trailed off brokenly. The star in her eye turned black just like Hikaru's, 'Shit this shouldn't happen yet, maybe if I try harder, it'll go back??' I panicked.
