AN HOUR LATER bowie was showered, her hair was dried and curled (thanks to marley) and her makeup was almost done. she hadn't gone for anything too heavy, knowing that her face would begin to itch. the front of her hair was clipped back with bows that matched her dress.
her dress hung on the back of her door and her pearly white shoes under her desk. the dress was a pale pink and the bodice was tight with off the shoulder sleeves. the skirt was long and didn't stick out too much. for jewellery, she had on silver rings and layered necklaces and pearl bracelets.
when she was finally ready and almost positive her chest wouldn't pop out of her corset, she grabbed a lacey scarf that her mom lent her and left her house. her parents and siblings had already left, so she locked the door behind her.
ten minutes later, allison's house came into view. it was a large white house with ten windows just on the front of it. on the front door was a wreath of orange leaves and pumpkins adorned the porch. bowie pushed open the front door as her best friend's mom passed by.
"ah, bowie! it's so great to see you," she hugged the girl and lead her further into the house, her breath smelt strongly of wine. "it's good to see you too," she smiled. allison's mom had always been like an aunt to her.
the woman held the girl by her shoulders and looked at her costume, "hm, let me guess.. marie antoinette?" she asked. the blonde nodded. "ah, let them eat cake." she quoted.
as the two entered the living room, that was filled with people, they spotted the woman's daughter, allison. she looked stunning in a golden dress with a big skirt.
after around twenty pictures were taken of the girls, which they didn't mind in the slightest, they rushed to the bathroom. due to her big dress, bowie had to help her hold it up and they eventually made their way back downstairs.
"max dennison," allison announced, holding onto the banister. the boy had a baseball cap on and his hands were dug into the bowl of candy bars that sat on the foyer table.
he quickly moved his hands and took off his cap at the sight of the girls, especially bowie. "h-hey, bowie, allison."
"i thought you hated halloween," allison commented. "i'm just taking my little sister, dani, around." he put a hand on her shoulder. "aw that's sweet of you," bowie practically cooed. "i always do it," he half hugged his sister, smiling sweetly.
"our parents made him," she said bluntly. "so, you're bowie?" she asked the shorter blonde. "yeah," she replied hesitantly. "max talks about you a lot." she grinned.
"oh really?" she raised her eyebrows, glancing at max. "yep, all the time," max was in utter shock, he nudged dani in the back as an attempt to shut her up. allison grabbed two cups and filled them with apple cider, after offering it to the group.
"so, how's the party?" max asked, taking a sip of cider. "boring," allison sighed. "mind numbingly boring," bowie rolled her eyes. "this is a yearly occurrence, there's a christmas party too, it's even worse than this."
"i really wish we could've gone to julia's," ally said, distaste evident in her voice before she changed the subject. "dani, i love your costume!"
"thanks, both of yours are nice too," she opened a candy bar. "i couldn't wear any dresses like those, i don't have any-" she looked at her brother. "what do you call 'em max? yabos?"
max coughed uncomfortably, "he really likes your yabos bowie, he loves 'em to be honest." bowie coughed, her face turned a bright pink. "oh," she nodded, making ally giggle at her. max's eyes widened in shock and he glared at dani.
"i'm really into witches," allison told the younger girl, saving the day, again. "really? me too, we learned about those sisters today at school."
"the sanderson sisters?" bowie asked, her face still warm. dani nodded. "allison knows everything about them." allison agreed, "yeah, my mom used to run the museum, but they shut it down 'cause so much scary sh- stuff happened there."
"i didn't know there was a museum," dani took a bite from her candy bar. "why don't we go there?" max suggested. the girls glanced at him, unsure. "come on, make a believer out of me."
dani shook her head adamantly, "it'll be okay," bowie assured her. "let us go get changed, we'll be like five minutes," allison told them, grabbing bowie's hand and dragging her upstairs. "he likes your yabos," she giggled loudly.
"dude, shut up! he'll hear you," bowie shushed her.

after max thought must've been nearly ten minutes, the girls made their way downstairs and were greeted with not just max and dani, but bowie's brother and sister, lennon and marley. "hey guys!" bowie beamed, glad she could breathe now her corset was taken off.
she now wore a long purple skirt with a tight, long sleeve shirt and a black cardigan and old converse, she hadn't bothered to take off her jewellery. allison now had on a cream jumper, cute jeans and new converse.
"lennon how was trick or treating?" bowie hugged her little brother, who was dressed up as a vampire. "good! look how much candy i got," he held up his bucket, filled with chocolate and lollipops. "woah," she gasped enthusiastically, plucking a lollipop from the bucket.
"hey!" he exclaimed. "what?" she smiled at the curly haired boy. "so, we ready to go?" she asked allison and max. "go where?" marley interjected. "the sanderson's house," max told her.
"oh, well len and i'll come, we've got nothing else to do." she shrugged. "but lennon," she leaned down to his level. "don't tell mom or dad, okay? we'll all be grounded for life."
the little boy grinned, "okay.. but you need to buy me.. a new toy car!" marley rolled her eyes, "yeah, whatever, let's go."
so, the six of them left the warm house party and made their way down the street. marley and max introduced themselves and lennon and dani already knew each other as they were in the same class.
dani didn't seem to like the boy too much and bowie totally got why. she loved her brother, of course, but he was really annoying a majority of the time.
allison and marley led everyone all the way there with the two younger kids behind them and max and bowie hanging at the back of the group. "i liked your costume," max told the girl beside him.
"aw, thanks. i was supposed to be marie antoinette, it wasn't totally accurate though." max was in awe of the girl, she looked amazing in her costume, and even now, she looked beautiful, her eyes twinkled like the glittery stuff on her face and her lips looked glossy in the moonlight.
"i dressed up to ya know," he informed the blonde. "yeah, looks like it," her voice dripped with sarcasm. "seriously, i'm a rapper."
she nodded, not believing him. "well, your hat's on wrong," she reached up and turned his hat almost completely around so it was just slightly to the side. "there, now you kind sort of tell." her eyes focused on his.
"hey," lennon cheered, "we're here!" allison ran her hand along the brick wall, "legend has it the bones of hundreds of children are buried in these walls."
"oh great," dani sighed. they all leaned on a large wooden fence that had a sign reading closed. obviously, they ignored it.
