The morning air was crisp and cool as Lily stepped out onto the farmhouse porch, pulling her sweater a little tighter around her shoulders. She glanced up at the sky, taking in the soft clouds that stretched across it, illuminated by the early morning light. The weather had been perfect all week, with clear skies and gentle breezes. But now, on the morning of their wedding day, there was a shift—a faint heaviness in the air that hinted at something unpredictable.

Elliot joined her on the porch, wrapping an arm around her waist. He pressed a kiss to her temple, sensing her tension. "You're up early," he said softly.

Lily nodded, her gaze still fixed on the sky. "I couldn't sleep. I kept checking the weather on my phone, and now... well, now I can't stop thinking about it."

Elliot gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "You mean the possibility of rain?"

Lily sighed, leaning into him. "Yeah. It wasn't supposed to rain. The forecast was clear all week, and now there's suddenly a chance of showers later this afternoon. I just... I don't know. I wanted everything to be perfect."

Elliot tilted his head, studying her face with a gentle smile. "Lily, you know as well as I do that there's only so much we can control. Weather's one of those things we just have to let go of. Whatever happens, it'll still be a beautiful day. Rain or shine."

Lily took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She knew he was right, of course. She had told herself the same thing in the weeks leading up to the wedding—that she couldn't control everything, and that sometimes, beauty lay in the unexpected. But as the reality of an uncertain forecast settled over her, she found herself struggling to truly embrace that idea.

"I know," she murmured. "It's just hard to let go of the vision I had for today. I imagined everything under the open sky, the sun shining, the leaves rustling in the breeze. I didn't imagine umbrellas or moving the ceremony inside."

Elliot nodded, understanding the weight of her words. "I get it. But maybe this is one of those moments where we have to trust that it'll all work out, even if it's not exactly what we planned."

Lily managed a small smile, her heart warming at his calm reassurance. "You're always so good at reminding me of what really matters."

He grinned, giving her a playful nudge. "That's what I'm here for."

As they stood together, watching the shifting clouds, a slight breeze stirred the leaves in the trees around them. Lily felt a flicker of uncertainty mixed with anticipation. There was something oddly thrilling about not knowing what the day would bring. She had spent months planning every detail, but now, with the forecast hanging over them, there was an unexpected element that forced her to relinquish control and simply go with the flow.

"Do you think we should start making backup plans?" she asked after a moment, glancing at him.

Elliot shrugged, thoughtful. "It wouldn't hurt to have an option in case the rain does hit during the ceremony. Maybe we could move things into the barn if we need to. It's not what we originally planned, but it's cozy and would keep everyone dry."

Lily considered the idea, her mind running through the logistics. The barn was where they'd planned to hold the reception, and it was beautifully decorated with string lights and wildflowers. It was spacious enough to accommodate their guests, though it would certainly feel more intimate than the open field she had envisioned.

"I think that could work," she said slowly, warming to the idea. "It would be different, but maybe... maybe that's okay. The barn has its own charm, and it might actually be nice to be surrounded by all the little touches we've set up for the reception."
