Kiara Carrera (a.k.a. Kie) is a teenager living in the Outer Banks, specifically in Figure Eight. She's the daughter of Mike Carrera, who owns The Wreck, a well-known restaurant in OBX, and Anna Carrera. Kie is an independent badass who was born a Kook but hangs out with the Pogues, so she definitely fits in with the crew.

She's been tight with the Pogues since kindergarten, and they all love her to bits. Even though she's the only girl hanging out with three guys, it doesn't faze her at all. People love to talk shit behind her back because she's a rich girl in a group of "poor" boys, but she really couldn't care less. Kie's not just a pretty face; she's a loyal friend who stands up for what she believes in, no matter what anyone says.

"Mom, I'm leaving!" Kie shouted as she headed for the door, keys in hand.

"Wait, wait! Where are you going?" Anna called after her.

"I'm going to hang out with the Pogues," Kie said, giving her mom a confused look.

"Kiara, you know you shouldn't be spending so much time with them... You're going into ninth grade, and I want you to be at the Kook Academy. You'll have amazing friends there," Anna said, her tone almost pleading.

This was the first time Kie had heard her mom say anything like that. She never really cared about Kie's friends before—why was she suddenly so invested?

"Are you saying the Pogues aren't good friends?" Kie asked, raising an eyebrow.

"That's not what I'm saying! I'm sure they're fine; I just... don't want you hanging out with them anymore," her mom admitted, hesitating as she spoke.

"Mom, I don't have time for this," Kie snapped, pushing past her and hopping on her bike, pedaling off toward the Château.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door, and Big John swung it open with a smile.

"Hey, kiddo!" he greeted.

"Hi, Big John! Are they here?" Kie asked, returning his smile.

"Yeah, they are. Go on in, but make sure they're not naked," he winked, and Kie scrunched her nose in disgust.

"Eww," she said, stepping inside and heading to John B's room. She knocked on the door, glancing at the sign that read "No Girls and Adults Allowed (Except Kie and Big John)." The sign screamed JJ.

"Who is it?" John B yelled from inside.

"It's meeeeee!" she replied cheerfully, and the door swung open.

"KIEEEE!" they all shouted, pulling her into a group hug.

"Someone missed me! You guys haven't seen me in two days. That's not that long," Kie laughed.

"Yes, it is," JJ muttered into her shoulder.

She stepped into the room, glancing around. "What's with the sign on the door, JJ?" She looked at him, hands on her hips.
