Kiara sat on her bed, music playing softly in the background, trying to drown out the memories of Rafe's attack. She felt numb, as if every part of her had gone cold. Tears streamed down her face, but they weren't tears of sadness—they were the tears of confusion and pain, the kind that came from not knowing what the hell she was feeling.

Suddenly, she heard a gentle knock at her window. She looked up, and there was JJ, waiting for her to open it.

"JJ?" she said, surprised. She quickly got up and opened the window. "What are you doing here?"

"Just checking up on you," he replied, slipping into her room. "John B told me about your conversation with him. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm good. My parents are probably going to kill you if they see you up here," Kiara warned, sinking back onto her bed.

"Just... don't let them see me," JJ joked, a grin spreading across his face. Kiara chuckled despite herself.

"That's my girl. I knew I could get a smile out of you," he said, sitting beside her. "You know I've known you since kindergarten, right?"

"Yeah?" Kiara furrowed her brows, unsure where he was going with this.

"Then you should know I can tell when you're lying. I know you want to tell me something, but you're scared. I don't want to force you, but I can tell something's off, so just stop lying to me."

Kiara hesitated, the weight of his words hanging in the air. "Um... if I tell you this, you have to promise it won't get out of here. You won't tell anyone."

"Okay, I promise," he said, and Kiara stuck out her pinky. JJ intertwined his pinky with hers, sealing the deal.

They fell into silence, the tension palpable as JJ watched Kiara struggle to find the right words. "Uh... do you remember when Sarah didn't invite me to her party?" she asked, glancing at him.

"Yeah," he nodded.

"So before I called the cops... I went to her house," Kiara said, her voice trembling. "I was looking for her, but she wasn't home—" Her voice broke, and she fought back tears. "Give me a minute, Jay," she said, wiping her eyes.

"You're okay. I'm here," he said softly, rubbing her back.

"Hm... Rafe was the only one in the house," she continued, her voice shaky. "I went in to get some water because I was stressing out, and then... I don't know. He just looked at me like... like he was a fucking predator. He grabbed my wrist and kept saying, 'This will be fast.' And then... he tried to—"

That was it. Kiara broke down, sobbing into JJ's shoulder.

"I didn't call 911 for Sarah's party... it was for Rafe, but the words didn't come out. I just blurted out the first thing that popped into my head, and—" she cried, anger and sadness flooding through her. "I should've stopped it sooner. I should've done something."
