He felt himself slip away from Ignitewing's beak and started falling at high velocity. He made an attempt to flap his wings but failed, looking around frantically, making calls for help. He knew this was the moment where death would lay over him like the shadow of the great Sycamore raised high over him, looming over like the darkness of this moment.
He continued making loud caws for help but nothing came, the tried to fly but his speed going downwards cancelled out his frantic attempts. He was approaching the ground, around 50 Birds up. At one last try to fly, the wind blew on him forward, his arms were stretched and he flew forwards, he was about to hit the floor, but the impact seemed to look lighter than before. He moved forward by a few lengths and hit the floor, but to his surprise, the only pain was from him scratching the ground as he dragged on forward. He was in his home. He looked around and spotted many birds from his flock. They finally noticed him.
"Emberwing?"
"What happened?"
"Everyone stop!" Moonfeather shouted. "Emberwing what happened?"
"Ignitewing from Fireflock tried to kill me and Moltenplume and... Heatblaze said they were gonna get somebody," Emberwing let out.
"Nonsense!" Obsidianwing snapped. "Don't believe this liar!"
"But its true-"
"No its not! Stop!" She shouted. All his other flock members gave scared faces, Auraflare showing an angry expression. Emberwing slowly backed off, holding his head down so no expression was visible but only guessed.
A loud caw came from presumably a few hundred lengths from the camp. Emberwing saw this is an opportunity to prove his leader wrong. "See? They're coming!" But nobody said anything. All was silent for a moment until another loud caw came, this time closer. "Why won't you listen!?"
No answer came. No one spoke. It seemed as if they were scared of Moonfeather. Finally, after what felt like forever, someone spoke; "Are you sure? That was pretty clear there's a bird there and what if they do attack?"
"No-" Moonfeathers began, but her voice was cut of as Emberwing felt sharp claws pierce her neck. He had no time to react, as she was immediately trusted upwards, while another flash flew by the camp and hit Moonfeather. The flashes of birds did not speak but continued thrusting the birds backwards. Stormcharger and Shadowblade immediately dashed into sight, Moltenplume was shreding Emberwing, pinning him down. Moonfeather was barely visible fighting another Fireflock member. Shadowblade rushed onto Moltenplume, knocking him off of Emberwing while Emberwing lay stunned for a second and then ran to attack Moltenplume. Stormcharger leapt onto the Fireflock member who was merely on the ground a few lengths before Moonfeather. Emberwing looked behind him and saw many other birds; Swiftshadow and Auraflare jumping behind him.
"So hes too much of a coward to show up!" Growled Heatstorm under the birds pinning him down. "Everyone around me are cowards! So are you Moonfeather! All those-" He stopped talking, being interupted by Moonfeather.
"Dont say anything about me!"
"My brother would never betray us... He'd not! Moonfeather how dare-"
"Go back to your flock and tell the others what you'd done... Or I will," Falconclaw Growled, his eyes narrowing. He lifted his claw off of him and so did the other birds. Heatshadow and Ignitewing did not wait another moment before flying off at a high speed, it wasn't long until they were out of sight.
"Why wont things just be normal!?" Emberwing wailed. He let his body go limp and flopped on the floor.
"Can I talk to you in private, Emberwing?" Auraflare said.
"Sure," Emberwing mumbled.
"Come," Auraflare padded around ten steps away and stood near a dark rock the color of Moonfeather. "Why do you think Moonfeather hates you so much?" It seemed as if Auraflare was actually wondering.
Emberwing didn't know either. "I dunno, Whenever I look at her I see someone familiar from before I joined, and she looks so much like Obsidianwing."
"Acts like her too," Auraflare muttered under his breath. "I've been noticing that for a while... You first came and she was so suspicious. Shes not normally like that."
"I hope. I just think I'm not normal and shes making me feel that way!"
"Being special is better than normal, and the birds you see here who you think are normal were or are actually special. Usually birds like to hide the fact that they have a grand path they met or are going to. It seems to me like you're special."
"How do you know? Do you know about the dream?"
"What dream?"
"The- nevermind..." Emberwing sighed. "Me and Obsidianwing had weird dreams and you were in mine so I was hoping you'd know and be able to tell me what you meant.
"Wha- what meant?-"
"Nothing... Just me thinking I'm special like all the time..." Emberwing sighed again.
"Oh, its alright..." Auraflares voice trailed off as he flew off into the trees...
