The sunlight reflected off Emberwings feathers. The cool breeze flew along his nest. Sticks and junk waving around, almost as if about to fall. Emberwing gazed up at the sky, tired. Her body was completely unmoving besides her body twitching in each major gust of wind.
It was dawn, all the birds were awake and hunting, the pile of food was mostly filled with plants. The guards were patrolling, soaring through all the sky.
Auraflare tapped him on the shoulder, "Wanna hunt? Its only thirteen days left until you become a hunter and no offense but from the pace you're going at you'd probably not make it."
Emberwing looked back, "Sure, and if something happens this time then my luck is cursed! Which way?"
"By the sycamore?" Auraflare suggested
"Thats where I last saw the Fireflock patrol!"
"Oh... Well the edge of the territory by Diamondflock?"
"Sure, I've never been there before. I've only hunted or attempted by the Sycamore or on the space like next to Skullflock where the oak forest is. My hunting was cut because my injury."
"Yeah... Follow me!" Auraflare called before running off and rapidly flapping his wings to the point where they seemed as a blur from afar. Emberwing quickly followed but with a slow reaction time. Emberwing was slow to catch up to the point where Auraflare slowed his flight to let Emberwing follow through to be in distance to hear his speech. "Here it is, I honestly forgot if anyone has hunted here for days!" He pointed his beak forward and downwards.
"Alright, I don't see anything right now. I mean prey," Emberwing hastely said.
"Well... We're birds of prey; Predators. We're supposed to have good eyesight to find our food. If ya' cant find any then look in a different spot I guess..."
"Alright..." Emberwing took his eyes off Auraflare and focused on the land below him. He sought through the very little remaining trees in this moorland. Through his eyes he spotted prey. At last he spotted a mouse scurrying in the bushes. Without a next thought, he plummeted down at terminal velocity, he spread his wing out in a gliding position but to control his flight to point downward. Being a few lengths from the ground, he aimed his beak up and grazed across the grass while gripping the mouse's body with his beak. He quickly bit down on its throat to deliver a killing blow, not letting it suffer one bit.
"That'll feed the flock well." Auraflare complimented, he appeared behind Emberwing.
"Thanks," said Emberwing, preening his wings in pleasure.
Auraflare said nothing for a while. Until his eyes widened. Emberwing saw quick shape running theough the bushes, kicking up dirt into the sky when running.
"Theres a cat!" Auraflare screamed, his wings flapping all about, he finally managed to get afar from the cat. In the blur of flurry the cat appeared to be a light tortoiseshell rushing straight toward Emberwing. He attempted to take of but the cat snapped his jaws at Emberwings tail. It barely grazed it, the cats mouth was disgusted by the taste of the feather that was caught in Emberwings tail. It spit it out and starting running away.
"Go back to your Earthwalkers!" Auraflare called.
"Yeah!" Emberwing called too. "Never come back!"
"Wheres the mouse?" Auraflare suddenly realized.
"In my beak it was... Did that cat steal it!?" Emberwing realized. He had no idea where it had went since the cat had attacked him.
"We need it back!" Auraflare announced. He soared through the sky with his wings a blur, Emberwing just stood there and waited for Auraflare to retrieve it. Luckily, after a few moments Auraflare came back with a fat mouse in his beak.
"Here it is," he said.
"Thanks," Emberwing mumbled. "We should go before anything else happens." Emberwing scanned the biome, tilting his head left and right. He heard purrs, mrrows, and meows, but he kept on until he started flying back to the district where he sought camp was. He followed the trail back to where he came from. Auraflare passed him so Emberwing got a lead onto where he was, seeing as Auraflare was an experienced full Hunter. He kept in following Auraflare until he had reached the camp. When he had finally got near, he heard a sudden commotion. Loads of birds were screaming and yelling. It seemed like a protest or an arguement. Auraflare and Emberwing swooped down to see what the commotion was. Lots of birds from their flock were mixed with some other birds. Maybe rogue birds or another flock. When the blur was more visible and they got closer, it seemed as if the flock was under attack.
"Oh no! What happened? Are they under attack!?" Auraflare panicked.
"I don't know I'm too scared!"
Under the birds from their flock and others, one bird stood out. He recognised one birds from the time he was attacked. It was a completely black raven. It looked up, its yellow green gaze burning into Emberwings soul. It was then when he realized that Fireflock was attacking, and that bird...
Was Ignitewing...
