I was greeted with so much love, I couldn’t believe it.
The company is based in Paris, but the employees are mostly Americans. We got along right away.
They gave me a tour of the whole building. They took me out for lunch to a badass restaurant that they reserved just for my visit. I had never felt so special. They praise me for Chris' American tour extension. It was me who negotiated the extra dates, but they didn't confirm it until yesterday. That is a huge bonus check with my name on it.
Back at the house, we were getting ready to go out to celebrate my new job, the tour, and the big ass check!!
- While you finish with your hair, I'm going to check my social media and answer some emails.- I told Angie and went to the room.
I opened my laptop and sat on the bed.
I replied to all the URGENT marked emails, confirming all the cancelations and new shows.
After I was finally done, I went to Insta, where a wave of messages were waiting for me.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I had to blink twice. I read one message after another. I searched for the hashtag #ChrisSue, and the pictures popped out on my screen. Big and clear.
The tears followed.
- What the fuck happened?- Angie came rushing to me. She took the laptop from my hands and said, " Oh!"
- Hey, look at me, girl.- I lifted my eyes to meet hers.
- You are a badass. For what you told me, you two never agreed to anything. Wait until you see him and ask him for an explanation. But not today - she cleaned my face and fixed my makeup.
- Today, we celebrate you.- she kissed my forehead, handed me my purse, and we left to the club, where a group of my soon to be coworkers waited for us.
The club was themed like a jungle. Some kind of summer party. The music was upbeat. There were beautiful people everywhere you looked, and yet all I kept picturing was their kiss. How she held him.
I could feel the tears threatening to come out.
- I need a drink, now!-
- Let's go!- they said in unison, and everyone laughed.
