CHAPTER TEN

I LET OUT A TIRED groan as the bright sunlight reflected onto my face—my body feeling extremely warm from where I lied on Rafe's bed all muzzled up under the covers.

I rolled over to switch sides so that the sunlight wouldn't be shining on my face, only to discover that I was alone on the bed—Rafe nowhere to be seen.

I sat up with another tired sigh, raising my hands up to my eyes to rub the sleep out, yawning as I did so.

Just when I lowered my hands from my face, the door burst open, revealing a heavey breathing Rafe. He paused in the middle of the room, holding his arm in his hand as he kept wincing in pain.

"Oh my God—Rafe?!" I breathed out with wide eyes, immediately pushing the covers away to rush over to his side.

He was leaning forward, so I grabbed his upper arm to guide him to sit down onto the edge of the bed. I couldn't help but grimace at the sight of the large red burn om his forearm.

"Holy shit.. what the hell happened?" I asked him, while quickly rushing into his bathroom to look for anything that could help reduce the pain of the wound.

"Barry happened. He wants his money." Rafe answered through gritted teeth, tilting his head back slightly so he was looking up at the ceiling.

"Okay—I knew you were buying from him but you never told me owed him money." I replied, already knowing this day was not going to be a good day for either of us.

"Just shut up and give me a hand here will ya?" He muttered, narrowing his eyes at me as we made eye contact through the bathroom mirror.

"Wow, that really motivated me." I grumbled, my voice laced with sarcasm. I struggled to find something that could help, so I decided to make an impulse decision and grabbed a cloth, soaking it with cold water.

I rushed back to Rafe, kneeling down in front of him to get a better look on his arm. "Let me see." I said, gently placing my hand on top of his hand that was shakily hovering over the wound.

"Jesus, Rafe... What did he do to you?" I mumbled, my eyes scanning the burn mark. I hesitsted, but slowly placed the cloth over his still fresh wound, Rafe releasing a loud groan in pain, trying hard not to pull his arm away.

"Fuck—(y/n)! That hurts!" He yelled at me in almost a whiney tone.

"Shhh!" I aggressively sushed at him.
