Asher opened her eyes and let them stay that way.

"What was that?" She asked into the air

Really slowly, she began to recollect.

How did she end up in her room? she clearly had no memory of returning the night before.

She sat up at once and shot a quick gaze around the room, everything looked the same except that the curtains by her bed had been pulled apart to let in the warm sun rays.

She was still in the previous day's clothes, but her feet were bare of shoes. She scratched her head, feeling dumbfounded as to how any of it was real.

Old things have passed away

A voice spoke within her and she gasped.

Who was that man?

She had forgotten what he looked like but remembered the warmth and love he radiated. She'd remembered leaning into his arms, she'd remembered being vulnerable before him and how pure his words were.

You belong to me, Olivia.

He knew her name. He knew her.

It overwhelmed her in that moment and she felt a rush of emotions which left her in tears for two solid hours.

When she got out her clothes, it hit her that she hadn't any nightmare the night before.

She had actually slept like a baby.

The scar on her face was gone. Not a single dark spot remained. Her eyes were the size of saucers as she gawked at her reflection, behind herself with awe.

She remembered how his gentle finger grazed over it, he had said "I am making all things new" and she actually didn't believe he was that literal.

But there she stood, spotless.

The scars on her ribs, underarms and thighs...they were gone as well.

Someone was at the door.

And she hastily pulled down her shirt and rushed to get it.

"Carol...ine" the words faded on her tongue

The elderly woman beamed "Hi honey... I'm actually on my way out now, just wanted to hand you these" she held forward a cookie box.

Asher stared down at it.

It's just a dream. She had to believe that!

"T-thankyou..." She received the box

"Anytime, sweetie. Now I have to be on my way, the ladies there won't wait any longer" she chuckled and spun around to leave.

"Wait!" She called out " I...I really appreciate this; you making me cookies everyday despite of your schedule, it's sweet"

The older lady grinned "You don't mention, my love...I just love you and this is the least I could do..."

Asher lowered her gaze, not used to the feeling she was getting inside

"The moment I saw you...I quickly knew I would love you for a very very long time" Carol continued with a tenderness in her eyes.

Asher pulled a small smile "I don't think I've been the nicest neighbor, I'm sorry"

"All of that is behind us, dear. I admit, I can sometimes be too nosy"

Asher nodded "It's alright ma'am"

They bade each other farewell and Asher slipped in and stared down at the box.

This man.

Maybe she could trust this man - she thought

He felt safe.
