"Mom, that's too dowdy, I can't wear that!"

"All I'm saying is that you can pair it with corduroy pants," said Khushi's mother patiently via FaceTime.

"I'll think about it," said Khushi. She bid a hasty goodbye and hung up. Sara stared at the pile of clothes vomited on the bed.

"I think you should go with the sleeveless orange crop top and the baggy jeans," said Sara wisely while Tanisha nodded.

"If you say so," said Khushi unsure. Deciding to trust her friends, she paired it with the corduroy jacket instead as it was still chilly around this time of the year.

"Good decision, summer is late - Texas is doing its thing again," said Sara sipping on wine. Khushi marveled at how her friends were having a gala time at her expense.

Khushi checked her phone, she had received a direct message from Arnav - they had finally gotten to exchanging numbers.

Might be running a little late, the trainer put us through two more rounds of game play. But I'll be there by 7:30 p.m.

"Reject—can't keep his word, no sense of time management. Your taste in men is a total failure, Khushi," drawled Sara, gulping down her wine.

"Is she for real," said Khushi turning to Tanisha with a grimace.

"Ignore kar," said Tanisha dismissively as Sara guffawed. "What does he play?"

"Squash - not racquetball as he had clarified."

"Huh, I can picture that, he has the right build for the sport. Will there be a sappy, arms-entwined swing moment like golf? Or will Arnav-ji swoop in, saving his pint-sized damsel from an imminent black eye?"

Shaking her head, Khushi hurriedly took a shower. She changed into her chosen outfit and blow-dried her hair. After applying a light touch of makeup and a plum shade of lip gloss, she surveyed her reflection in the mirror.

"Fab!" exclaimed Sara, raising her glass. "I love your natural waves, and that ass looks bomb in those pants. I bet he'd be waiting to spank it later tonight."

"That's not gonna happen," said Khushi, although she couldn't keep the smile off her voice.

"Look at her blushing, the idiot is in love," rasped Sara.

"Not even on the first date yet, and sure, I'm in love," said Khushi sarcastically.

Since they now had the extra time, they put their heads together and stalked his Facebook profile. He had multiple pictures with his sister and his family.

"Oooo his sister is pretty, and a doctor!"

Khushi enlarged the picture to zoom in on his sister holding a medical degree while being hugged by Arnav. Dang, the family consists of all giants!

"7:20 girl, you better select your footwear."

Khushi jumped and rummaged through her shoe rack - opting to go with chunky sneakers instead of heels, she quickly slipped them on.

"Purse, phone, lip gloss," muttered Khushi, voicing her checklist out loud.

"Condom," said Sara, tapping her nose.

"Pump this girl with some electrolytes," grumbled Khushi. Her breath caught in her throat as there was a soft knock on the door, she checked her watch, he was right on time.

Sara and Tanisha gave her a double thumbs up from the bedroom before Khushi turned and opened the door.

Arnav smiled as he stood in the doorway, dressed in a classic white button down shirt, straight-cut jeans, and Chelsea boots. A light bomber jacket encased his broad shoulders, and his face was smooth and clean-shaven.
