Stress was all Nilou knew for these past few months. It wasn't the usual soul eating stress everyone was accustomed to, it was the good kind of stress. The kind of stress you knew, once it was gone, the fruit of all your labour would make it all worth it. The stress you had when planning for something huge and exciting in your life.
And Nilou couldn't possibly be more excited. She hasn't been this excited in her life, her heart felt like it was about to burst out of her chest and fly away in utter happiness.
The root of her stress, excitement and happiness could only be traced back to the beautiful golden ring on her finger, of course─the one she absolutely refused to take off the moment her beloved adorned her finger with it.
Nilou was getting married.
She could barely believe it herself. She was Cyno's fiancee─soon to be wife─her wedding just a few months away, too far in Nilou's humble opinion.
She didn't really know what she was so impatient about. Was she just excited about the ceremony and celebration that came with weddings or was she just excited about finally being betrothed to the one person on Teyvat she would spend her dying days with?
She already knew the most likely answer to that question.
Archons, Nilou loved him so much. He wasn't perfect─not for a long shot─but everything unconventional about him made Nilou love him so much more.
How surprisingly caring he was, how he would sometimes let her win whenever they played TCG together, how he caressed and braided her hair whenever she was stressed to calm her down, how he made her favourite snacks even though Nilou was more of the cook in the house, how he took care of her when she was sick or hurt─even when it was her fault at times.
Gods, she could go on and on for hours about how much she loved him...
"Nilou! Are you even listening?!" Faruzan all but shrieked in her ear, hair frazzled and face frantic as though she was the one getting married.
"Wait, where am I again...?"
Oh right, she was putting the finishing touches on her wedding dress, deciding whether she wanted a more floral gown or go with something shimmery and more traditional to desert attire.
Nilou wanted something more traditional rather than a full on wedding gown. The concepts Cyno and Candace had shown her of typical desert wedding attire were absolutely breathtaking, the cuts and designs and the seemingly limitless bouts of creativity you could put into designing them really appealed to Nilou. Besides, the whole point of the dress was to make her look perfect, stunning and the only person that mattered on her special day, so what's the harm in looking like a desert goddess on her wedding day?
But, Faruzan apparently thought otherwise...
"Madame Faru, do we really have to go through this conversation again?" Nilou whined with a roll of her eyes. She greatly appreciated Faruzan's insight on any matter but sometimes, going with one's gut rather than rationale is the better option.
