Nick

By mid June, Charlie's relationship with Billy seemed to have become more serious. He was spending more time with him, and wasn't at home much. I hated it, hated knowing he was with another man.

His behaviour had also started to change. He wasn't flirty with me anymore, and we didn't banter like we used to. I assumed it was because he didn't want to feel disloyal, I had no idea what was actually going on.

Chantelle had become a regular client, and was a lot more forward with her flirting. I was nearing the end of a session with her, and had been feeling frustrated over the situation with Charlie, when I had a moment of weakness.

She was struggling to complete a plank, we were forty seconds in with only twenty left to go.
"You've got this." I encouraged.
"It's easy for you, because you're so strong." She said flirtatiously, touching my bicep.

Any other day, if a client had touched me like this, I would have ended the session. But today was different, today I was feeling bitter and sorry for myself. I knew Charlie would be seeing Billy at some point, probably not even come home again.

I turned my head to look at her, smirked and let my gaze linger. She blushed, and started giggling. I already felt like I'd abandoned my morals, I had lifted the viel on my professional persona.

The timer went off, and we both sat up.
"Well done." I chuckled.
"Do you ever do sessions from home?" She asked suggestively.
"No, I don't." I laughed, looking down and my face heated up a little.
"That's a shame." She said seductively, placing her hand on my thigh.
"Maybe I could make an exception." I said lowly, giving her a devilish look.
"Just tell me when and where." She said flirtatiously as she stood up.
"Uhm... Sure." I said awkwardly, the realisation of what I'd agreed to hitting me.
"I'll see you soon." She said, winking at me before she left.

Charlie

I had gone home after my lecture, I didn't have work that day and I just wanted to be at home. Billy had berated me in front of his friends, I knew he was joking, and I felt silly for being upset, but it hurt all the same.

I was catching up on some work when Nick came home. He seemed surprised to see me, I don't think he was expecting me to be there.
"Oh, hey." He said, smiling.
"Hey." I said quietly, forcing a smile.

He sat next to me, scrolling on his phone. He was never normally so quiet, and it made me feel uneasy. When Billy was quiet with me, it was because I had done something to piss him off. He would never tell me what I had supposedly done, all I would know was that he wasn't happy with me.

Nick's silence triggered this feeling, the anxiety that I had unknowingly done something wrong.
"Have I done something wrong?" I ask quietly.
"What?" He asked softly, looking at me and furrowing his brow.
"You're just... Quiet..." I said in small voice.
"You haven't done anything wrong, why would you think that?" He asked gently.
"I dunno." I mumbled, looking away.
"Charlie what's wrong?" His voice was full of concern and he turned his body towards me.
"Nothing, I'm just being silly." I said, smiling weakly.
"Okay." He said quietly.

I went back to my work. After about ten minutes, I glanced at him again. I could tell he had something on his mind, his face was troubled. If it was nothing I had done, something else must have upset him.

"Are you okay?" I asked softly.
"Just... Something happened at work." He said quietly.
"Do you want to talk about it?" I offered.
"I did something really stupid." He said, looking at me with sad eyes.
"Nick, you can talk to me about anything." I said gently, putting down my laptop and moving closer to him.
