Lisa had already spent a long evening explaining her impulsive decision to marry Jennie Kim. She'd tried her best to reassure Rosé, who had listened, albeit skeptically, with her arms crossed.
Roseanne Park's older sister mode wasn't very pleasant to behold."So," she began, her eyes narrowing. " How did she find out about the debt? Is she...stalking you?"
That is something Lisa had thought to herself. The idea that Jennie Kim would go to such lengths seemed absurd, but the facts didn't add up. How did Jennie even know so much about her personal life?
"I don't know," she said. "I don't have any answer. I just ..it when she paid it all off, I... I couldn't just turn her down. I'll pay her back, but for now, I'm...bearing with it," her voice faltered. " Can you not judge me?"
"I'm not judging you, Lili. I would never do that," Rosé's expression softened. " I'm concerned. You're my best friend. I want you to be happy. I know I tease, but she's a businesswoman. This whole thing sounds...messy. I'm sorry if I am being too caring since we're not kids anymore."
She left it there before locking herself inside the room. Lisa sighed alone in the small kitchen and cooked Rosé's favorite curry rice, knowing her best friend rarely skipped meals unless she was very anxious. When she was done, she went to Rosé's door with the food, knocking softly.
" Rosé," still wearing the apron she called. " You know I can't let My Baby Chipmunk go to bed hungry," there was no answer, so she tried again. " Would you rather have me hungry then? What if Jennie Kim doesn't even feed me once I move in with her?"
Some ruffling noise had been heard. Lisa smiled as the door opened with a soft frown, Rosé adorably sulking at her. "If she treats you badly, I'll go there and drag you back myself. I would care less about the consequences."
The fierce loyalty upon the blonde girl's character did make her chuckle; she even imagined the sweet and kind-hearted angel Roseanne Park hunting down Jennie Kim. Even though she was gentle, no one in the world could break her trust and walk away unscathed. "You're the best. Now, please-eat, Madame."
Stubbornly staying at the door Rosé arms folded. "Did you eat?"
"Not yet," with a shrug Lisa stated. "How could I eat without My Chipmunk?"
Rolling her eyes, she stepped out to make her way to the small table where the plates had been set for each of them and started serving food, and Lisa joined her on the floor. Rosé side-eyed at the spoon that was being held out to her and, with a resigned sigh, took a bite. "I don't want you to go."
"I know."
Between bites, Rosé gave her a look. "Then why are you going?"
Lisa glanced down at her hand, where the small diamonds on the ring glowed. She knew it was expensive, but didn't have enough in mind to do the calculation of its worth. "Two months and I'll be back."
"Are you sure about that? It doesn't look like Jennie Kim will let you go."
Exhaling a deep breath she tried to sound more confident. "It's only to secure her inheritance. Once she gets it, she'll probably file for a divorce. She's not about to stay married to another woman, especially her family. It would complicate things for them. Her reputation, Rosé. She lives in a high-class society. Can you imagine: The Jennie Kim married to a girl?"
"Hmm, no, any clue why she married you, of all people?"
Like she even gets a chance to. The thought hounded her building unasked questions. "Maybe...I was just an easy option," she muttered, more to herself than Rosé.
Seeing Lisa was thinking she took up a piece of kimchi, holding it up to Lisa's mouth. "You're not 'easy,' Lili. There has to be a reason. Don't sell yourself short."
