Author’s Note: Just a quick intro—Arabelle Morningstar is the 2md offspring of Lucifer and Lilith and she's Charlie's sister, but she isn't canon which means she's an oc!

If arabelle takes up too much of the spotlight please let me know. I don't wanna do that.

This is set when Charlie was 5 and Arabelle is 9.

In my au, Lucifer has more severe mental health issues,Charlie is energetic (as a child)

Now the story.. -

The Morningstars had seen their fair share of celebrations/parties but today, the castle was lit brighter than Hell itself. walls decked in gold and black streamers. It was a day of balloons, of cake stacked high with layers of frosting, and of Charlie’s sweet, childlike amd innocent laughter that seemed to melt the very air around her. It was Charlie's 5th birthday,She was obiously happy to be turning five, her tiny body skipping and jumping around in a brand-new red dress made just for her,she was so small but still so full of joy.

Nine-year-old Arabelle sat close to her sister, basking in the attention that Charlie's innocent glow seemed to always command, Lilith watched with a soft and tender smile, her arms folded as she looked her daughters. with a love that could quell even the fiercest of flames. Yet behind her serene facade, her gaze would drift around—searching for a familiar figure who hadn’t showed up yet.

Arabelle had to help charlie open all of her presents since charlies hands were too small to do it,as Arabelle helped Charlie open her first present—(a sparkling tiara that Beelzebub had suggested)—a figure entered the room quietly, attempting to blend into the shadows. Lucifer Morningstar, the King of Hell, strode in with a soft, forced smile, his sharp features softened as he took in the sight of his daughters. His usual grandeur and charisma felt dampened, but he usally held himself together

Lilith’s eyes caught his, a look of concern hidden behind a quick, reassuring smile.

“Daddy!!” Charlie squealed, her voice rang out as she dashed toward him, wrapping her little arms around his leg. Arabelle followed, flashing him a big, confident grin.

“Good morning, my little princesses,” Lucifer murmured, bending down to embrace them. The warmth of their small hands against his skin filled him with both happiness and a quiet ache that gnawed at his chest. It reminded him, for just a brief moment, of the love he felt he didn’t deserve.

Charlie giggled, clinging to his leg, but it was Arabelle who caught the slight wince in his eyes. She tilted her head, a trace of curiosity showing through her usual confident demeanor. “Dad…are you okay?”

Lucifer’s smile twitched just a little, but he composed himself, tousling Arabelle’s hair. “Of course, Ara. Just a little…tired.” He chuckled awkwardly,

though Lilith’s watchful gaze bore2 into him from across the room. She knew, of course she knew. She always did. No matter what was "wrong" with him she always knew. And while she wore her own silent battles well, Lucifer knew that his struggles weighed heavily on her heart.

Lilith walked closer to them and in with a soft clap of her hands, drawing the girls’ attention. “well, how about a special surprise for our birthday girl?” Her smile brightened as she gestured to a corner where an enormous gift wrapped in shimmering paper awaited. The girls squealed, momentarily distracted, charlie quickly rushed over, attempting to break off the wrapping paper on her own "Charlie wait for me first-!!" Arabelle said before running after her little sister.

As the laughter echoed, Lilith moved quietly to Lucifer’s side, her smile fading, her fingers brushing his forearm, tracing the fabric of his jacket. Her voice was gentle, barely above a whisper. “You didn’t have to come if you weren’t ready.”

He turned to her, his expression weary but resolute. “They need me.” he murmured. "And… I can’t keep doing this to them, to you."

She squeezed his arm, a fierce glint in her eyes. “You’re their father, Lucifer. And you’re my husband. Nothing will change that.” Her words held the strength of a vow, a promise that transcended words.

“Daddy, look!” Charlie’s voice broke their hushed conversation as she brandished a toy trumpet triumphantly, raising it high in her tiny hand. Arabelle laughed, egging her sister on to play something, though neither of them quite knew how. Lucifer’s chuckle was genuine this time as he watched the two.

Arabelle, perhaps sensing that something else in her father’s gaze, took Charlie’s hand and led her toward him. “Let’s play a song for Dad!” she announced boldly, though she had no idea how. She blew into the trumpet, making an earsplitting sound that had Lilith chuckling, and Charlie laughed along, trying her best to imitate her older sister.

Lucifer found himself lost in the little scene, his daughters oblivious to the weight he carried. For a moment, their laughter filled his mind, drowning out the darkness that had clung to him.

“You two are the light of my life, you know that?” Lucifer whispered, pulling both girls into a hug, his voice thick with emotion. Arabelle looked up at him, a hint of concern flitting across her face, but before she could ask, Charlie’s chubby little fingers tugged at his sleeve.

“Daddy, dance with me!” she squealed, reaching up with her small hands. And for once, he let the weight slip off his shoulders, lifting his little girl into the air as her laughter sparkled through the room. Arabelle joined in, grabbing his other hand as Lilith watched with misty eyes, her heart swelling at the sight.

For this moment, for this fleeting fragment of joy, they were whole, for now.
