During a picnic, Charlie’s energy was infectious as as always she decided it was time for a new adventure: teaching KeeKee how to talk. She sat cross-legged on the grass, her eyes sparkling with excitement, while KeeKee lounged nearby, her singular eye blinking lazily in the sunlight.

“Okay, KeeKee! You’re going to learn how to say ‘hello,’” Charlie announced, leaning in with enthusiasm. She raised her hands dramatically as if she were about to conduct an orchestra. “Just repeat after me!”

Lilith and Arabelle watched from a nearby blanket, sharing amused glances as Charlie began her earnest lesson. “Heee-llooooo!” she enunciated slowly, exaggerating the syllables, her voice reaching a playful pitch.

KeeKee tilted her head, clearly confused. She flicked her tail, then let out a soft meow, as if to say, Why are you making me do this.

“Come on, KeeKee! Just try!” Charlie encouraged, her excitement undeterred by the cat’s lack of cooperation. She pointed at KeeKee, her expression a mix of determination and joy. “You can do it! Heee-llooooo!”

Arabelle couldn’t help but giggle, covering her mouth with her hand. “You’re really committed to this, aren’t you, Cha,I don’t think KeeKee is taking it seriously...."

“Of course, she is!” Charlie replied, puffing out her chest proudly. “She just needs a little more practice!”

KeeKee let out another disinterested meow, rolling onto her back, clearly unconcerned about the princess's lesson

Lilith smirked, leaning closer to Arabelle. “I don’t think we’re getting anywhere with this one,” she teased, her voice low.

KeeKee blinked lazily, her tail twitching, seemingly unimpressed.

“well...! I believe in you!” Charlie insisted, her spirit unwavering. “Let’s try again! One… two… three! Meow!” she said, and this time, she gave an exaggerated, melodramatic performance of a cat’s meow, making her voice all high-pitched and funny.

“Meow!” KeeKee responded, albeit accidentally, as if startled by the sound, but it came out as a low, grumpy growl.

“See!” Charlie shouted, bouncing on her knees. “She did it! KeeKee, you’re a natural!”

Lilith couldn’t hold back her laughter any longer, doubling over. “Maybe she just wants to meow on her own terms!” she teased, wiping away tears of mirth.

Arabelle joined in, leaning back on her hands as she watched her sister’s unwavering enthusiasm. “KeeKee’s going to be the most reluctant cat talker ever,” she said, still chuckling.

Charlie, unfazed by the teasing, leaned closer to KeeKee, her voice softening. “Okay, let’s try one more time. You’ve got this, KeeKee! One… two… three..!!”

And to everyone’s surprise, this time, KeeKee let out a definitive, albeit lazy, “Meow.”

Charlie’s eyes lit up with pure joy, and she jumped to her feet, clapping her hands. “Did you hear that? She said it! KeeKee can talk!”

Lilith and Arabelle exchanged amused looks, their laughter echoing through the garden, while Lucifer, from his spot on the blanket, couldn’t help but smile at the heartwarming chaos unfolding before him. In moments like these, the weight of the world felt a little lighter, and laughter filled the air like a soothing balm.

After a few moments had passed, the time grew late, and Charlie's energy had finally worn out, so she was fast asleep on the floor beside Kee Kee, who was also fast asleep.
"Momma..?" Lilith heard Arabelle say, her voice was tired and soft but still sounded a little anxious.

"Yes, Arabelle?" Lilith was almost about to fall asleep, but forced herself to wake up.

"Why couldn’t dad come...?" She said, her voice full of innocent curiosity and worry for her father.

"I can't answer that, okay?"

Her voice sounded less tired than before, she was more aware. After that question, she decided to wake Charlie up so they could all leave.

After they came back, arabelle and Charlie went straight to their rooms,Lilith went to look for Lucifer since he was alone all day. She looked everywhere, but found him sitting on a bench outdoors, Lost in thought. Lilith approached quietly, her heart tightening at the sight of him. He looked worn, like he's been crying was a better description, shadows under his eyes suggesting he hadn’t slept for a few days but she hadnt noticed untill now, since she hadn't had the chance to get a good look at him. Lilith drew closer, her gaze fell on his arms, where dark bruises peeked out from under the sleeves of his shirt.

“Lucifer?” she said softly, her voice laced with concern. “What... happened?”

He looked up, a fleeting expression of panic washing over his face before he masked it with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “Oh, it’s nothing,” he replied, waving a hand dismissively. “Just… bumped into a few things, you know how it is.”

Lilith’s brow furrowed in disbelief. She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing as she examined the bruises more closely. They were too vivid, too numerous for mere accidents. “This isn’t just from bumping into things!!!  Are you sure you’re alright?”

He shifted uncomfortably, pulling his sleeves down to cover the marks, but the action only intensified her worry. "I’m fine, lilli, really" he insisted, trying to inject some cheer into his tone. “Just a little roughhousing with Charlie, nothing to concern yourself with.”

Lilith wasn’t convinced. She could see the tension in his shoulders, the way his fingers fidgeted with the hem of his shirt. “You don’t have to hide things from me,” she urged, moving to sit beside him. “You know you can tell me anything.”

He glanced away, his jaw tightening. “It’s just… it’s been a rough week, that’s all.” He avoided her gaze, staring at the ground as if it held the answers he wasn’t ready to share.

“Lucifer,” Lilith said gently, placing a hand on his knee, “whatever it is, I want to help. You don’t have to carry this alone.”

He finally met her gaze, and for a moment, she saw the turmoil beneath the surface. But then, as if a wall had been erected between them, he masked his pain with a facade of indifference. “I appreciate it, Lilith, but I’m really okay. I just need some time to process everything. It’s nothing you should worry about.”

Lilith’s heart ached at his words, the familiar feeling of helplessness creeping in. She wanted to break through the barrier he’d built around himself, to drag him out of the darkness that seemed to loom over him like a storm cloud. “I hate seeing you like this,” she confessed, her voice softening. “You don’t have to pretend with me.”

A shadow flickered across his face, and for a brief moment, she thought he might open up, but then he laughed softly, shaking his head. “You’re too good to me. Really, I’m just… tired.”

Lilith sighed, knowing better than to push him too hard. “Alright, but just know that I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk. You don’t have to shoulder everything alone.”

Lucifer offered a small, genuine smile that warmed her heart, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I know,” he said, squeezing her hand briefly before releasing it. “And I love you for it.”
