Jes was on his mission that night, stalking the streets like a dark shadow, following drunk people who got into fights and stirred up trouble, just as he'd planned. It was such a boring task; these people already seemed like broken souls, sinking even deeper as the night wore on.
It felt more like tedious work—he didn't enjoy it, thinking humans were simply too foolish to control themselves, making them all too easy to manipulate. As he swept through the streets, letting his dark energy flow into their minds, he was already prepared to head back to his penthouse.
Then, he spotted two drunk guys stumbling along the street, one helping the other keep his balance. As he looked closer, his heart began to race.
Bible.
Bible was walking with someone Jes had not seen before, clearly drunk, and as they stopped to light a cigarette, something in Jes snapped. His insides ignited with the same burning feeling he'd felt before with Bible's friend Natty, but this time, it was worse.
He was fuming—this man leaning so close to Bible, looking at him that way—it was obvious what he had in mind, taking advantage of Bible's state.
Also: Bible! Drunk?! And in that outfit?!
Before he could even think, Jes was there, snapping Bible away from that sleazy stranger who dared to touch him like that.
As Jes dragged Bible down the street, a storm of emotions surged through him—anger, jealousy, possessiveness, need... and fear. Fear of what could have happened if he hadn't arrived at the right place at the right time.
"You're always sooow mean to me, Mr. Jespiiii," Bible whined, trailing behind him as Jes yanked him away from that idiot who clearly wanted only one thing.
Jes could've let it happen, but his mind wouldn't allow anyone else to touch Bible.
He stopped, turning to face Bible, who was pouting with half-closed eyes. "I just saved your ass!" he scolded.
"Seee, there you gow again..." Bible mumbled, whining like a child.
"Oh, so you wanted to go with him? Go ahead, but don't come crying to me afterward," Jes snapped.
"Nooou-w, but why were you so mad at me at school... what did I even do wrong?" Bible asked, his eyes glassy and unfocused.
"Let's not talk about it now. You won't remember anything tomorrow anyway," Jes replied, exasperated.
Suddenly, Bible swayed. "I... don't feel so good," he murmured before stumbling over to the side of the street and throwing up.
"Don't look at me," he muttered as Jes rubbed his back gently, trying to help him feel better.
"What did they give you?" Jes asked, noticing Bible becoming increasingly unsteady.
Great, he thought, I can't let him go home like this. Jes apartment was just around the corner, so he lifted Bible into his arms and carried him up to his penthouse.
