Maisy absolutely hated math. and she had many reasons for it.

Ever since she was in 6th grade, she struggled to fully understand math. Charlie always had to help her with her homework, and to this day, he still does.

Maisy would eventually understand her math lessons, but it was always much later then she was supposed too. Math was her weakest subject. And as a self-claimed academic weapon, it always stung for her.

But ever since early october, Maisy seemed to both love and dread being in math class even more. And it was all because of Andres Garcia's fault.

It all started when Maisy was 9th grade. Since she would be in and out of school a lot because of her hectic schedule as an athlete and the sister of an actor, she was never able to truly pay attention to who was in her classes.

That was until the second quarter of the year when her pre-calculus teacher switched up the seating arrangements and placed Andres Garcia in front of Maisy. And in all honestly, she thought he was cute.

She took an instant liking to him despite the fact she'd never spoken to him before. But at least now, she had motivation to go to school she could and math became her favorite class.

She would daydream about him and create all these fake scenarios in her head with the slight hope of them coming true. She was excited to see if they would interact at school, and by interacting, i mean papers being passed down the rows and Andres having to pass a worksheet to Maisy.

Maisy would talk about him all the time to Mckenna. Most of their conversations consisted of Maisy jokingly calling him 'my man' and overdramatizing every encounter, while Mckenna fed into it.

In other words, it was the blind leading the blind. Eventually, Maisy transferred the topic onto her spam account and gave him the elusive name, school boy.

Then, surprisingly, Andres turned around one day in the early spring and asked Maisy for help with a math problem. Fortunately though, Charlie had helped Maisy with the lesson the day before.

So, Maisy just told him exactly what to do with the same instructions Charlie taught her. After finally understanding the problem, Andres smiled and thanked her. After that, Maisy, Mckenna, and Maisy's spam had a field day.

It started to become a common occurrence for Andres to turn around and work with Maisy on math problems. And for a while, that's just all it was. But it was enough for Maisy to go home and text Mckenna saying that 'he wanted her so bad.'

Maisy still remembers their first actually conversation that wasn't math-related.

Andres had just walked into class and he placed his bag down as he sat in his seat. He turned around to Maisy and said, "Hey, Maisy, your brother is gonna be in the Percy Jackson show?"

She was in the middle of getting her binder out of her backpack. Once she placed it down, she nodded her head "Yeah, how'd you know?"

"I saw your post"

Oh my god. Maisy wanted to giggle so badly in that moment. She didn't, though. "You follow me?"

Andres opened his bag to grab his own binder "Yeah. You probably have too many notifications, so you didn't see me following you, miss hollywood" He said as a joke.

She smiled at him. Maisy grabbed her phone out of her back pocket and asked him for his instagram so she could follow him back. But just between us, she already knew what his instagram was. She found all of his social media accounts months ago. But Andre's didn't know.

As the rest of her freshman year in highschool continued, Maisy and Andres started to talk more and more. Maisy would tell Mckenna everything so excitedly, like, she actually had her legs kicking back and forth.

Now, it was june and there was only two weeks of school left. Maisy and Andres were closer than she could ever have imagined. The two were actually friends! He started to speak to her outside of math class, he always dabbed her up or high-fived her when he saw her in the hallways.

They texted occasionally, and everyday he slowly became more and more apart of her little friend group she had in school. The two went to the library together to study for their pre-calc final. And the cherry on top: he would walk her to all her classes even if it meant he would be late to his. And they'd even walk out of school together and to the parking lot where other students waited to be picked up.

Students in their grade began to talk about them together and automatically assumed that they were talking or that they were already dating.

One day, Maisy hung out with Mckenna after the last day of school and told her how Andres walked her to her english class and how his hand lingered a little too long when he dabbed her up to say goodbye. The two girls were in Maisys bedroom with Maisy laying stomach down on her bed with her chin in the palm of her hand, and Mckenna swiveling around in Maisys desk chair.

"Oh, he likes you" Mckenna giggled. "Like, that man wanted to hold your hand. That's the only explanation for why he did that! Maisy, i think you might be getting your first boyfriend soon"

Ever since that, Maisy and Andres started having this off and on thing. Every couple weeks they would text and talk in school, hangout with their friendgroup out of school, Andres was even her first kiss.

But then, there was also times where he would completely ghost her, everytime she brought up having something serious, he would change the subject. She didn't know why he was the way he was, but she liked him and he always came back.

But, there was one time where Maisy had been hanging out with the girls in her friendgroup. But of course, one of their boyfriends was there. Maisy had made a joke about leaving to go to a boys house, but what she didn't mention was that it was her cousin.

The girls boyfriend that was there, Evan, he texted Andres and Andres then texted Maisy which started this huge fight between them. In the end, he ghosted her, again.

But this time, Maisy thought it was the end. She cried in Charlie's arms about it, she cried to Mckenna about it. She even had stopped hanging out with her friendgroup in fear that Andre's would be there.

He ended up coming back again, but he hurt Maisy countless times, over and over. Maisy still can't even seem to let him go, like one bit.
