Error 42

Chapter 7:

 "Ask me". Rocky suddenly remarked, nudging Cedar's shoulder as the the group settled underneath a tree to take a break at the end of the street.

"Ask you what?". Cedar asked in confusion as he raised a brow.

"Whatever it is that you still want to know about me". Rocky elaborated.

"Are you sure?". Cedar asked hesitantly.

"Yes, I am". Rocky said with a small laugh. "I won't tell Joel about anything we talk about, It's not really his business anyways".

Cedar nodded, falling silent as he thought to himself for a moment before speaking up. "H - How did Yara die exactly?".

"After Lev and I went on the run, a couple of Seraphites ended up finding Yara a day later and took her back to the camp, Emily tried to make her talk but Yara refused by spitting in her face". Rocky explained.

"Brave kid". Cedar cut in with an impressed nod.

"Emily ordered both of the men that recaptured her to break her left arm, they nearly broke her right arm too but Lev and I came back just in time to help her". Rocky continued.

"Abby got caught by the Seraphites too at some point and Emily was going to hang her, After Abby managed to kill Emily I cut her down from the noose". Lev cut in quietly.

"You were just trying to do the right thing Lev, you didn't know what kind of person Abby was". Cedar tried to say consolingly.

"I should have told you and your sister the truth about her from the start". Rocky remarked bitterly as he kicked a random rock out of his path.

"She was threatening your kid". Lev tried to reason.

"Hey, you and Yara are my kids too". Rocky stated firmly, starting to smile a bit despite his soured mood.

Lev nodded and affectionately knocked his shoulder against Rocky's before continuing his story. "After Yara's arm amputation, Abby's boyfriend, Owen invited us to go along with him and Mel to Santa Barbara".

"What's in Santa Barbara?". Luca asked curiously.

"I guess that's where the rest of the Fireflies went". Lev replied. "Yara was eager to go but I refused to leave our mother behind, so I took one of the boats and headed back to Seraphite Island".

"And then you guys got into that argument and you had to kill her". Cedar finished off.

"After me, Abby and Yara found him, we were caught by one of the WLF soldiers. Abby and I disarmed the guy but Issac Dixon, who was the leader of the WLF showed up with the rest of his crew". Rocky explained.

"Yara was able to ambush him and shoot him in the back before Rocky could get hurt". Lev continued sadly. "That's why the rest of the WLF squad ended up killing her".

"Then Abby tried to convince Lev to go with her out here". Rocky continued. "I knew she would inevitably snap at some point and hurt him so I tried to make him stay with me".

"Where would you have gone?". Luca asked. "Seattle clearly wasn't safe for either of you".

"I don't know". Rocky admitted. "But staying with Abby wasn't an option, that's for sure".

"I couldn't take the pressure of making such a quick decision so I bolted off into the woods and didn't look back". Lev added sadly.

"I - I don't even know what to say". Cedar said somewhat awkwardly after a brief moment of silence.

"Clearly we both needed to get some stuff off our chest". Rocky said with a faint grin as he rose back to his feet, with the other three following suit.
