MY AFRICAN WIND (LEVANTA)

10 2 1

Levanta was swiftly cool and wooshed throughout my life, giving me no warning.
So soothing, no way to be blocked
With a hello, I never regretted answering to,
Levanta came from a direction I wasn't expecting.

Just like a guardian angel
Levanta guided me through painful
moments.
I remember telling Levanta that I was
a strong rooted tree that is tied to the soil
no matter how hard it will blow
I will never sway,

In that moment, as I listened to Levanta's whistle,
My ears caught a  beautiful whisper.
Levanta said;
I have travelled where you are, and I have gone far, I have passed tall mountains filled with strong rooted trees,
Trust me, your roots are shallow,
The rains are not here yet, but as I passed you, I could feel your roots detach.

I maintained my stance;
Here where I am is my home. My roots are rooted deep in the soil, and not even a storm can sway me.
But you will never bear fruits in such topography, Levanta said,

Who was I without fruits? I reasoned, Levanta was already changing my course.

Levanta opened my eyes and showed me a suitable place
A place I could put my roots
A place where in abundance I could bear fruits.

Levanta encouraged me to give shelter to the homeless, to feed the hungry,
to forgive the ungrateful,
to love the unlovable.
Levanta carried the rains from far and watered me.
Levanta proudly watched me blossom with his beautiful smile.

Levanta fertilised the soil I sat on
Soon, I bore fruits,
With the help of Levanta, three little birds with different seeds landed on my branches
Levanta watered them
Soon, I had three different trees around me,
I wasn't lonely because they bore fruits, edible, and maybe non edible ones, Levanta knows best.

Sometimes, Levanta came with drought
There was dry season, there were rain seasons
Despite the droughts, I always knew Levanta was there watching over me.

But alas! little did I know Levanta will one day take a bow and travel far away where I will never hear the wishpers again, the calm soothing breeze Levanta brought me is gone.

I know I was not the only one Levanta consoled with the rich cooling effect.
Levanta will be missed by many, that I am sure of.

Levanta, you were a God sent Angel,
You embraced my shortcomings,
You understood my stubbornness, You pointed a suitable direction for me.
You will forever be cherished and remembered profoundly in my little heart.

Until we meet again, my African wind,
I will continue to shelter others from the sun, and I will point directions to the lost ones.
Forever in our hearts, Levanta.

In Loving Memory  of
