Eddie couldn't believe what his eyes were witnessing as the large, metallic-looking Scorpion broke through the ground and into the outfield. Once it emerged, the creature just stood there as if it were frozen. He observed the players that had been on the field moments before now fleeing for their lives, determined to escape before this thing caused any more damage.

Suddenly, Eddie snapped back to reality, regaining his senses. This was a story, and a huge one at that. He and Peter needed to go to work.

"Hey, Peter, are you getting thi..."

Eddie turned to see that his coworker was already long gone, having left without a trace. He glanced around the area but saw no sign of Peter around.

"Thanks man," Eddie mumbled to himself as he left his seat, looking for a safer but still acceptable position to properly document the action.

Wherever Peter was, hopefully he was at least in a position where he could get some good shots.

----

Peter glanced around amidst the chaos, looking for a private place to change amidst the people fleeing for their lives already. He finally caught a glimpse of the men's bathroom just down the way.

"Right, duh," he muttered, taking off for the room. Running inside, he was fortunate to find the area empty, and he quickly got inside a stall space and removed his outer clothing to reveal his Spider-Man outfit underneath. After checking his web shooters and his camera, he webbed his clothes in a pile and opted to leave the door closed and locked in order to hopefully better protect his belongings, hurtling over it instead.

Upon returning to the scene, Peter found a place to set up his camera, webbing it in place after adjusting its settings. He then leapt forward, firing a web and swinging out to meet that...thing. He knew that he was going to have to be careful out in the middle of the field, because there weren't exactly many places to swing from so far out.

However, before he could properly formulate a game plan, the once still creature appeared to catch sight of him, firing an energy blast of some kind from a gun on its head.

"Woah!" Peter yelled, releasing his web in a hurry, barely dropping beneath the blast in time. He tumbled to the ground, somersaulting and flipping to avoid two more blasts before standing up and looking to the giant machine.

"Rude!" Peter yelled, pointing aggressively at the intruder. "Not even a hello? Nothing?"

The machine squared its aim towards him once more, and Peter lunged forward, heading for underneath the machine. It seemed like the safest bet, since he could avoid the laser and, with any luck, find a weak spot on the robot's underside. Besides, it probably couldn't see him, and as large as the thing was, there was almost no way it could be that fast, right?

Unfortunately, he was quickly proven wrong, at least on the second account, as the machine swiftly adjusted its position, the legs stabbing rapidly into the ground below. Peter flipped and dodged repeatedly, only narrowly avoiding smashing into another leg a few times along the way. Eventually, he settled for grabbing onto one of the legs, scurrying up rapidly until he came to rest on its underside. He laid into it with a couple blows from his fists, but they failed to even put so much as a dent in it.

Peter's spider sense then went off again, but this time, he was too slow to react, as one of the pinchers in the front reached underneath, grabbing him as he tried to leap back down. The machine then pulled him back out, slamming him to the ground twice, pinning him there the second time.

"Okay," Peter said, straining through the pain all his muscles were feeling at the moment, "I like a hug as much as the next guy, but this is a little much!"
