Upon exiting the park, Peter quickly ran across the street, finding an alley and performing his usual duck-and-change routine, shedding his street clothes in favor of his Spider-Man costume underneath. He slipped on his mask before ascending the wall of the building, scrambling up quickly and using a web to hurdle himself over the roof.

It was really, really hard for Peter not to be frustrated right now, as it seemed yet another thing was keeping him from his goal of proposing to Mary Jane. He did his best to put those feelings aside for the moment, because people were likely depending on him. Besides, this is how it would always be: the needs of the city must always come before his own desires, no matter how much it inconvenienced him. He'd learned that reality a long time ago in a way he wouldn't wish upon anyone else.

Besides, Mary Jane was right. However long this ordeal took, she would be waiting for him, just as she promised. Really, Peter couldn't have asked for a more gracious woman to be with when it came to handling his frequent abrupt departures. He could tell it wasn't easy for her; he frequently noticed a downcast look in her eyes, if only for a moment, and her face often fell at the sound of a siren. Despite all of this, she had not left him, always waiting patiently.

Just like always, he would return to her, and when he did, nothing would get in his way of asking her the all-important question.

Finally coming onto the scene, Peter realized that the building in question was a new corporate building that was still under construction. This worked in his favor, because only people working on the place would be in there, rather than a bunch of random civilians littered throughout. Another thing though was that the building wasn't on fire. Rather, it looked as if a bomb had gone off somewhere, as significant chunks of the building were damaged while others remained largely intact. This raised a whole other set of questions in Peter's head, but right now, the people were the priority.

Tucking his legs in, Peter launched them forward as he released his web, shooting himself straight into the building through a broken window. He then quickly made his way towards the more damaged parts of the building, trusting his spider sense to alert him of any potential danger that might arise due to the building's already compromised integrity. Eventually, after calling for anyone, he found a couple people trapped beneath some rubble. Easily lifting the weight off them, Peter then helped them out of the building.

He basically repeated the same process a couple more times before everyone was finally out of the building. As he passed a man with a busted ankle off to emergency responders, a police officer came up to him.

"Thanks again, Spidey," the man said. "I know as a force we don't always show it, but a lot of us really do appreciate you."

"Not a problem, officer," Peter said, giving the man a salute. "You know, I was in the neighborhood and all that."

Another officer then approached the first one.

"Sir," the second one said to the first, "we found what appear to be traces of...something."

"Something?" the first cop, who Peter deduced was likely a captain or something, said.

"It was right where we would normally find the remains of whatever explosive was used to create a blast like this," the other officer explained, "but I've never seen anything like this."

Peter glanced at it as well, his mind suddenly feeling as though it might burst when the realization hit him.

"No way," he said in awe as he gently walked up towards the remains the officer was holding, his eyes trained on the stuff.

"What is it?" the first officer said.

"I...wow, this is really something," Peter exclaimed, his tone still one of both shock and intrigue.
