As she woke to the light of a brand-new day, Vera's emerald eyes and freckled face were lit up by the sunrise.

She looked up at the sunlight, her freckled face shimmering in the morning glow. Then, she gathered her belongings and set off, hoping to leave the forest behind.

Soon, Vera saw something shocking-a road filled with lines and, in the distance, a city.
She killed the first few lines but quickly decided to run instead. She knew that city; it was where she had gone to school.

Vera pulled out her special line spray, designed to make her smell like the lines, so they wouldn't notice her.

She soon took it off, though, because of the awful rotten cheese smell.
Twenty minutes later, Vera spotted her old school and began walking toward it.

As she approached the school, she noticed someone inside.
When she tried to get in, the stranger said, "Come in, you look tired!"

"I've been walking for so long!" Vera replied.
"Are you okay?" asked the unknown person.

"I think I'm fine," Vera sighed as she stepped through a metallic door of some kind.
The lighting was poor, but they managed to navigate through it.

Outside, the fog was thickening, adding a sense of mystery to everything around them.
