Sam, Dean, Dad and I stood in the Campbell Compound, looking for something that would help us find Eve and put her down.
"It's here, somewhere," Sam told us. "I know it." He looked at Dad. "Help me move this."
Sam and Dad moved Samuel's desk, revealing a trapdoor.
"I'll be damned," Dad told us.
We walked down the ladder into the room below.
"Welcome to the Campbell family library," Sam told us.
"So, Samuel collected all this stuff, huh?" Dean asked.
"Apparently," Sam answered.
"Wow," I told them. "All right, well, what are we looking for?"
"Well, anything that'll put a run in the Octomom's stockings," Dad answered. "Pick a row."
~~~~~
We looked through the library for hours, sitting at the table.
"Bingo," Dad told us. "Either of you ever heard anything about a phoenix?"
"River, Joaquin, or the giant flaming bird?" I asked.
"It says here that the ashes of a phoenix can burn the mother," Dad told us.
"The mother?" I repeated.
"Great," Dean told us. "Where do we get one?"
"You got me," Dad told us. "I thought it was a myth."
"All right, great," Sam told us. "Well, let's see if we can find something out about a phoenix."
~~~~~
We looked through the library for hours.
I was standing, finding something in a journal. "Guys. Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, check this out." I sat at the table across from Dean, reading from the journal. "'March 5, 1861. Sunrise, Wyoming. Gun killed a phoenix today. Left a pile of smoldering ash."
"Really?" Sam asked. "Whose gun?"
"Colt's," I answered.
"Colt?" Sam repeated. "Colt, like--"
"Like the Colt," I answered. "From..." I held up the journal, smiling. "Samuel Colt's journal."
"What?" Sam asked, smiling. "That's his?"
"Yeah," I answered.
"Dude, no," Sam told me.
"Dude, yes," I told him.
Sam reached for the book. "Well, let me see it."
I pulled it out of his reach. "Get your own."
Dean smirked. "Nerds."
Sam and I looked at Dean, unbothered.
"Well, what else did he say about the phoenix?" Dad asked. "What does it look like? Has it got feathers?"
"It just says, 'phoenix'," I told them.
"Did he say where he tracked it?" Dad asked.
"No," I answered.
"All right, so I guess we got to find one of our own, whatever it is," Sam told us.
"I know where we can find one," Dean told us, standing, taking the journal from me. "March 5, 1861. Sunrise, Wyoming. We'll 'Star Trek IV' this bitch."
