Evans P.O.V.

I'd been about to crash into bed when my beta voice bellowed in my head. "A rogue has crossed territory. It's scent is all over the wood. We're tracing it down now. How soon can you get here?" Anger coursed through me. How dare a rogue cross my territory! I'd been up for the last 72 hours and I was already on edge. this just pused me over. Most rogues were too afraid to cross into my land because were weren't  known for showing mercy to those who broke laws. One of the laws being that no rogue, under any circumstances, were to cross the boarder of my territory. Punishment for breaking that law was immediate death. This rogue was no exception.

"I'll be there a two minutes." I told Zeke & headed out the door, all thoughts of sleep long gone.

As I raced through the woods to catch up with Zeke and the others who were patrollin, an unknown scent wafted up my nostrils . It couldn't have been the rogue because rogues usually smelled of old blood and rotten flesh. No, this couldn't be the rogue. This smell was refreshing. Its reminded me of sweet honey and cherries. It drew me in and clouded my senses. I wanted to find the origin of the smell and bottle it up and keep it with me forever. A loud menacing growl snapped me out of my reverie. I ran forward until I was in front of the four wolves chasing behind the infamous rogue. I was surprised that it was in its human form trying to excape us. If it thought it would get far then it had another thing coming.

"Fan out" I linked to the guys as I proceeded forward.

Nodding silently, two wolves went to her right, and two went to her left. I stayed put and pushed forward. The sensual smell was back again it was stronger than ever. I narrowed my eyes and shook my head and tried to concentrate. Suddenly out of nowhere, the rogue stopped running. I skidded to a stop just in time as not to collide with it. Or should I say her. I was close enough to recognize that the smell, the one I'd been smelling since I'd entered the woods, was coming from her. It was pouring off of her in waves and I wanted nothing more than to take hold of her and breath in deep. I shuddered at the thought and noticed that Zeke and the others were looking at me patiently. They stood surrounding the rogue, just in case she decided to take off again. I growled low in my throat and waited for her to speak. She dropped down to her knees, and bowed her head, her dirty locks of hair falling forward and covering her dirt smudged face. And then she spoke and my heart stopped.

"My name is Hailie Night. I meant no harm. I didn't mean to trespass through your territory & I'm sorry. I'm willing to accept any punishment you inflict upon me"

Her voice shook but I could tell she was trying to be brave. Her little frame shook and I could tell she wasn't in good health. I could almost see her ribs through her ripped shirt and her bone thin legs had me wondering how she was able to withstand her own weight. She peeked at me from under her long lashes and I saw confusion seep into her eyes as she looked at me and the others.

"Shift back," I ordered everyone, "This rogue is no harm to us."

Four heads turned to me and shock was evident in all of their eyes. Never, in all my decades of being an alpha , had I ever spared a rogues life.

They all looked at the rogue with obvious suspicion and distate. My wolf growled low at them for questioning my authority and for the looks they were sending her way.

"Shift!" I commanded again, leaving no room for debate.

Withing seconds everyone was in their human form, including myself and we stood before the girl. Her big doe eyes widened almost comically and her jaw dropped at she took in our appearance. Our bare appearances may I add. She quickly dropped her gaze and I could see red spread from her face down her neck.

"Hailie" I say. I liked the name. Her eyes snap up and met mine and I couldn't turn away. It was as if everything faded away and it was just Hailie and I. My wolf howled with joy as I realized what I had before me.

My mate.

My one and only.

My life.

The one that would forever hold my heart.

I couldn't believe it. Before I could stop it, a rare smile took my face and I stepped forward.

"I'm Evan. Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack." I say and take another step forward and I see her visibly flinched back. I stopped my progression forward as I noticed her form shaking uncontrollably and before I could say another word, her eyes rolled back and I leapt forward to catch her limp, fragile form.
