Unrequited Love

The heart beats raw,
who she loves sees all her flaws,
God knows, but should she still abide by the law?
a heart that's been tied with another before cannot win a draw.

Why is she, a woman, trying to win a man's heart?
it's like running after a love with a single dart,
a kiss from him on her cheek, that's a start.
Yet that doesn't mean he reciprocated her feelings on his part.

Time passes by, a starry night sky,
all she adores, has yet to fall apart.
adoration, she gives, ignorance, she receives,
that's when she realized it was unrequited love.

Why does she still stand by his side after all this time?
Ignorance and false hope is all that he gave to her, a hopeless romantic.
yet everyone's blinded by her love that shines,
but his unspoken feelings are what remains a certain mimic.

- sincerely yours, Mary.
