As I stepped into Ling's house, I was immediately struck by how effortlessly cozy it felt. The space was a perfect reflection of her—minimalist but elegant, with soft lighting that created a warm and inviting atmosphere. I kicked off my shoes by the door, just as she did, and took a moment to absorb my surroundings. But before I could really take everything in, Ling appeared with a little bundle of fur in her arms, instantly stealing my attention.
"This is Poppo," she said, smiling as she cradled a tiny golden retriever puppy in her hands, gently stroking his soft, golden fur. The puppy looked up at me with wide, curious eyes, his tiny tail wagging energetically. It was impossible not to smile.
"Oh my god, he's so cute!" I exclaimed, immediately reaching out to pet him. His fur was as soft as it looked, and he nuzzled into my hand, clearly enjoying the attention.
Ling laughed softly, watching me interact with the puppy. "He's a handful, but worth every second," she said, her eyes warm and affectionate as she held Poppo up for a closer look.
I grinned, scratching the puppy behind his ears. "I can see that. He's adorable."
For a few moments, we stood there, both of us fawning over Poppo as he wriggled happily in Ling's arms. But then, in true Ling fashion, she shifted gears without missing a beat.
"So... no sex?" she asked casually, her tone light but teasing as she raised an eyebrow at me, clearly amused by my decision to keep things low-key for the night.
I shook my head with a small laugh, feeling my cheeks warm slightly at the bluntness of her question. "Nope. Let's just watch some movies or something. I just... I want to kiss you." I hadn't meant to be so forward, but the words came out easily, and I found myself standing there, feeling a little exposed under her gaze.
Ling's eyebrow quirked up, her lips curving into a sly smile. "Hold on, calm down," she said, taking a step closer. "Rephrase that. You said you want to kiss me?"
There was a challenge in her voice, a playful glint in her eyes that made my pulse quicken. I decided to play along, leaning in just enough so that my face was inches from hers. I could feel her breath on my skin, and the air between us seemed to thicken with anticipation.
"Yes," I whispered, my voice low and teasing as I locked eyes with her.
Ling's smirk grew, and she tilted her head slightly, as if sizing me up. "Orm, are you a bank loan?"
I blinked, momentarily thrown by the random question. "No?" I answered, confused.
"Because you've got my interest," she said with a straight face, her tone dripping with flirtatious intent.
I couldn't hold it in. I burst out laughing, doubling over as the sheer cheesiness of her line hit me full force. "Was that supposed to be you hitting on me?" I asked between laughs, wiping a tear from the corner of my eye as I straightened up.
Ling grinned, shrugging nonchalantly. "Yeah, well, my sister said it would work."
I shook my head, still laughing. "You might want to reconsider your source for flirting advice, because that one was very... meh."
Ling sighed dramatically, rolling her eyes as if she had been deeply wronged. "Okay, fine. If my lines are that bad, then you flirt with me."
I raised an eyebrow, considering the challenge. "Hmm, okay," I said, stepping closer to her and leaning in just enough so that my lips were near her ear. I lowered my voice to a soft whisper, letting the teasing edge slip back into my tone. "It must be exhausting... being this cute all the time, huh?"
I could feel her shiver slightly at the proximity of my breath against her ear. Her lips parted, and a soft hum escaped her as I placed a gentle kiss on the sensitive spot just below her ear, the warmth of her skin against mine making my heart race.
"Hm," Ling murmured, tilting her head back slightly to give me better access. "Not bad at all."
Satisfied with my successful flirtation, I straightened up, and we exchanged a quick glance before moving toward her living room. The couch, plush and inviting, beckoned us to settle in. The vibe between us had shifted—still playful, but with a new, quieter intimacy now that we had teased each other out of our flirtatious banter.
As we reached the couch, I hesitated for a moment before asking, "Can I hug you while we watch something?"
Ling looked at me, amusement flickering in her eyes. "Sure," she said with a shrug, her tone casual. But instead of the simple side-hug I was expecting, she pulled me toward her until I found myself on top of her, my head resting comfortably on her chest.
I blinked, momentarily taken aback by the sudden shift in position. "Why is this weirdly more comfortable?" I asked, adjusting myself slightly to make sure I wasn't crushing her.
Ling laughed softly, her fingers gently brushing through my hair. "I don't know," she admitted, her voice low and soothing. "But now you can rest."
I looked up at her, feeling a smile tug at my lips. "I'm not even tired," I said, though I could already feel the heaviness settling into my limbs as the warmth of her body began to lull me into relaxation.
"Let's see then," she teased, her fingers still running through my hair in a rhythm that was undeniably soothing.
I tried to protest, but the combination of her warmth, her steady breathing, and the soft comfort of the couch made it impossible to resist. The world around me seemed to fade, my body relaxing completely against hers. Within minutes, I could feel myself drifting off, the soft scent of her perfume and the gentle rise and fall of her chest beneath me lulling me further into that peaceful, half-asleep state.
The last thing I remembered before fully falling asleep was the soft sound of Ling's heartbeat beneath my ear, a steady and comforting rhythm that anchored me in the moment. The warmth of her arms around me, the soft murmur of her voice as she whispered something I was too tired to catch—it all felt perfect.
