Okay, this is a Cresswell oneshot from Cress's POV. We're going to pretend that their amazing kiss in the Lunar palace didn't happen, and they're at, um, let's just say a ball for Cinder's coronation (the background isn't important so it really could be any ball). So it's Cresswell getting together except Cress is the one to admit her feelings (sort of like Chapter 42 in Keeper of the Lost Cities, but Cress and Thorne in Lunar Chronicles.) Enjoy!

Cress sighed almost dreamily as she gazed at the man across the room. Dressed in a fine black suit, combed back hair, and a tie with little moons on it, Thorne looked...

Absolutely perfect.

Cress's mind wandered down a million different paths, dreaming of any number of ways this night might end. Want pulled at her chest, practically forcing her legs forward, towards the middle of the dance floor.

Towards him.

Just as Cress was about to turn back around, Thorne turned and caught her eye. He smiled sheepishly. So did she.

Cress looked down to find shaky hands and felt her heart practically beating through her chest. She'd been dreaming –well, more like planning –about this moment for weeks. Trying to find the perfect time, the perfect words, to express how she really felt.

But was now the right time? What if he rejected her? He hadn't been showing interest and she'd been so scared that-

"Cress!"

Cress looked up to find Thorne standing right in front of her. She'd been so caught up in her worries she hadn't seen him walk up to her.

Thorne smiled as he said, "I asked if you wanted to dance with me?"

"I- uh-" But Thorne had already taken her hand and was leading her to the dance floor.

The music was slow, lilting and calming and making Cress feel a bit better. But then she had to dance.

Despite all of her time in her satellite, dreaming of scenarios not unlike this one, Cress had never taken the time to learn how to dance. She never thought she'd need it.

Cress made no move to start dancing; she didn't know what to do.

Thorne asked, "Cress? Do you want to dance or not?"

So low she could barely hear herself, Cress mumbled, "I don't know how."

Thorne just smiled and said, "I figured as much. Good thing I'm an amazing dancer and can teach you all about it." He reached for her arm, and she reluctantly gave it. Thorne showed her how to put her right arm in his and her left on his shoulder, while he put his left hand in hers and his right on her hip, making her blush.

And then they were swaying with the music, Cress occasionally stepping on Thorne's toes. But Thorne just smiled and kept dancing.

Cress couldn't stop blushing, and not being able to blush seemed like another one of Cinder's superpowers right now.
