Katie Aberdeen's POV;

I watched as Allison's silhouette sprinted away into the dark of Farrah's property. I crossed myself and said what I could remember of the Hail Mary. I thought long and hard about all the people in the town of Colfax. Who could be capable of something so heinous? On the other hand why do they have something against Allison and I? I thought back to high school and anyone who Allison and I would've upset together. That list could be long, Allison and I weren't exactly perfect. It feels like hours go by before Levi's truck can be heard speeding up the driveway, spitting gravel behind in its wake. I pull the settee from in front of the front door and I yank it open as Levi sprints into the house looking around frantically.

"Where's Sophie? Where's Allison?" He grabs me by both arms.

"Sophie is safe hiding in the master bedroom. Allison however, grabbed her gun and chased a murderer into the woods!" I gesture wildly to the back door.

"SHE DID WHAT?!" He gasps.

"Levi?! Is that you?!" Sophie calls from the locked bedroom down the hall.

"It's me Soph, don't worry kiddo, everything's gonna be just fine!" Levi calls down the hallway to her. He turns back to me. "I'm gonna go after her. The sheriff isn't far behind me." And like that Levi opens the back door and he too races out into the night. I thought about the victims, teen girls. Maybe the killer wasn't after me and Allison. Maybe they were after Amanda and Sophie? But they wouldn't make sense why someone would break in when I was the only one home.

"Katie?" I hear Sophie call.

"Yeah Soph?" I say as I walk down the hallway and stand outside the door. The door unlocks and clicks open.

"I need to tell you about what happened at the party...the one at the creek?" Sophie says meekly.

"Okay. Tell me what happened." I swallow hard and nod.

SPECIAL SUBCHAPTER: The Creek;

Sophie's POV:

After Levi's truck could be heard rumbling away from my Mom's house, I walked up to the key pad on the side of the garage door and punched in the code. Slowly the door pulled up to reveal Penny Jenkins' car. She waves to me from the driver's seat. I smile and hop in the car.

"Telling me the passcode to the garage to wait was genius." Penny says as I buckle up and she starts the car.

"Honestly I'm kinda lucky Allison is so dumb. This year's gonna be a blast." I nod as we drive off.

When we get to the creek, the party is in full swing. I find the keg and pour myself a solo cup of beer before joining the group of cheerleaders at the beer pong table, who were watching the football guys play.

"Hey Soph." Annalee Gibbons, the head cheerleader leans over and acknowledges me.

"Hey." I nod.

"Here Soph, try this." January Pauler offers me her weed pen. I accept it and take a hit but start coughing. Some of the guys laugh at this.

"So Sophie, you trying out for the cheer squad?" Sandra Turnkey asks me as she drunkenly leans on January.

"Yeah. I think so." I nod as I sip the beer in my hand.

"She's a legacy. She has to. But don't think just because your mother and your aunt were captains doesn't mean you will." Annalee smirks from behind her solo cup. As we laugh I hear someone stumble up to me and I turn to see Penny staggering up to me and then almost toppling over onto me.

"Sophie, I think I need to puke." She gasps as I hold her up. People around us laugh.

"Make sure you drop this loser before tryouts Soph. She can't keep up." Sandra laughs as do the other girls.

"Come on Penny, let's go to the trees over there." I ignore the group and help Penny walk to the outskirts of the party. I tie her hair back for her and back up to stay away from the spray.

"Sophie?" I hear a voice ask. I turn to see a man in a dark hoodie come out of the brush.

"Who the hell are you?" I back up, scared. The man smiles and laughs slightly.

"A friend of a friend. I'm excited for what's to come. You've been chosen, you know? I thought for sure it was Allison and Katie, but it's turns out it's you. He chooses you." The man smiles.

"You better back up, or I will scream so loud and like twenty football players are gonna kick your ass." I threaten.

"Oh Sophie, you're not the one I intend on hurting. But sacrifices must be made. I'll come get you when the time is right." The man nods before disappearing back into the brush.

"Let's go back to the party, Penny." I grab Penny and start dragging her back to the others where I start chugging what's left of my beer.

KATIE's POV:

"What the fuck?! How could you just not tell anyone this?" I exclaim, putting my hands on my head. Sophie is sitting on the bed with her knees pulled up to her chest.

"I..I dunno I thought maybe I was just cross faded. It was all so insane." Sophie cries. She has tears streaming down her face. She's scared and my panicking isn't helping.

"Okay, honey, it's okay...do you remember what he looks like?" I sit on the bed and put an arm around her. She may be a scheming manipulative teenager, but she's a child nonetheless.

"I don't. It was dark, he had a hood on, I got drunk afterwards. It's all a blur." She rested her forehead on the tops of her knees, curling into herself.

"Had you seen him before?" I ask.

"No. But I remember feeling like he looked familiar." Sophie lifts her head back up to me.

"Chosen one, sacrifices...it sounds.." I think aloud.

"Satanic." Sophie finishes for me.

"Colfax is small. Who the hell here believes in the occult? Most folks are catholic." I stand up again.

"Not necessarily. Jenny Colt told me her mother was a witch. She had an herb garden and a spell book." Sophie corrects me.

"And you think they're connected?" I ask.

"No I just mean the occult isn't as uncommon as you think. This is the pacific northwest after all. Even my mom did some light witchcraft type things." Sophie shrugs.

"Oh my god that's it!" I stop pacing and spin back around to face Sophie.

"What?!" She recoils from me.

"Whoever the creek killer is knows your mother!"
I state. As Sophie thinks on what I said, the room lights up with the flashing red and blue lights of the sheriff's patrol car.
