Allison Monroe's POV

November 14th, 2009

I walked around the corner of the kitchen from the hallway with Sophie on my hip, a toothbrush in my mouth and my wet hair up in a towel. I walked over to the sink, removing the toothbrush from my mouth and spat in the sink before rising it down the drain. It was 6 am and Sophie had been an early riser this morning and I needed to get ready for the parade so I took her around the house with me as I prepared myself for the day ahead. I blow dried my hair in the living room while Sophie watched cartoons from inside her child play pen. Then I took her with me to my bedroom where I sat at my vanity with her in my lap and began applying my makeup. I did glittery eyeshadow that got everywhere including on Sophie, and topped it off with red lipstick. When I finished my makeup Farrah walked in my room in her pajamas with a bed head and collapsed in a heap on my bed.

"Good morning." I say pointedly at her as I turn around in my vanity chair to face her. Sophie starts babbling at her mom.

"You look pretty." She yawns as she sits up. I walk over to her and hand her Sophie.

"Thanks, it's a big day." I nod as I turn back around to turn on my curling iron. "You're coming to the parade right?"

"Wouldn't miss it for the world Al." Farrah assures me as Sophie giggles at her.

"Are you going to the ball too?" I ask I finish sectioning my hair and start applying the first section to the hot wand.

"No, I'll be home with my favorite munchkin." Farrah responds.

"I thought Chad was throwing an after party." I I say as I continue curling.

"He is...I might go to that. It depends on this little ladybug." Farrah tickles Sophie eliciting the cutest baby giggle from her.

"You used to be cool, remember?" I huff my bangs out of my face.

"Yeah well once you pop out your own little bundle of joy, you'll see being cool isn't as important as it once was." Farrah sighed as she removed a lock of her hair from Sophie's tiny fist.

"When Levi and I have a baby, I'll be a cool mom." I shrug as I finish curling the last section of hair.

"So says you." Farrah shakes her head and leaves the bedroom with Sophie.

The parade was the same as it was every year. I stood on a cake themed float with the other cheerleaders who lined the two bottom tiers of the cake. I stood at the top layer as the cake topper, beaming with my cheer uniform on, hair curled perfectly with a perfect red lip on. On my head was the homecoming queen tiara and the matching sash was across my body. I waved as we passed through the crowd. After the parade was over, Katie came back to the house with us as we got ready for the founder's ball. I wore one of Farrah's dresses she had made, a strapless sparkling purple gown. Katie wore a long sleeve navy gown that her grandmother had up cycled from the thrift store. Aunt Carla drove us to the town hall where the ball was held every year. When we got there, the ball was in full swing. People were drinking, dancing and socializing in groups. Aunt Carla ventured off to get a drink leaving Katie and I to wander. I paced the edge of the room until familiar blue eyes found mine.

"You are stunning." Levi smiles as he walks over to me, taking my hands.

"You cleaned up good yourself." I adjust his black tie and kiss his cheek.

"Katie, mind if I steal her for a dance?" Levi looks over at an unimpressed Katie who's rolling her eyes.

"Fine but return her promptly." Katie scoffs as she folds her arms over her chest.

"Yea ma'am." Levi nods at her before leading me out to the dance floor. I drape my arms around his neck and we step in time with the song.

"One day we're gonna be taking our own kids to these balls." I say as I look around the room at all the faces, old and young.

"Crazy to think about huh?" Levi looks around the room and then to me again. He's smiling. Genuinely smiling, like the idea of the future with me is exciting.

"Not that crazy. I love you and I know we'll be together for the rest of our lives." I shrug as the song changes.

"I love you too Allison. Nothing will ever change that." Levi's forehead comes down to rest against mine.

"Nothing will happen to try to change that. Don't be cynical." I chuckle as we continue to sway to the new slow song.

"Mind if I cut in?" A voice behind me asks. I break away from Levi and turn to see Elaine Colt, Levi and Jenny's mother.

"Not at all." I smile at her and step aside.

"By the way, you look absolutely gorgeous Allison. Purple is your color." Elaine winks at me and squeezes my right hand before joining Levi. I walk back over to Katie who's snacking on an hors d'oeuvre.

"Purple isn't your color, it's red." Katie says through chewing on her food.

"I look good in every color." I roll my eyes and laugh.

"You know I wish I had your level of confidence. Or maybe it's just that you're totally full of yourself." Katie sets her plate down on the table behind us.

"Whatever. Come dance with me loser." I grab her arm and yank her out onto the dance floor. We start doing the waltz, with her leading. I giggle as we step around the dance floor.

"I know you think Levi is your great love, but he's not." Katie says.

"What do you mean?" I blink.

"It's us bitch. What we have, it's true sisterhood. It's unrivaled." Katie explains.

"Don't get sappy on me now." I look down at our feet, worried I was going to trip us up. "But you're right." I look back up at her and smile. "We are infinite."

"Who's sappy now?" She cocks her left eyebrow up to which I laugh as she twirls me. I never want this night to end.
